Mk1 fiesta engine upgrades.
Hi all, pending the sale of my current mk5 fiesta and my little Suzuki trials bike I am intending on buying myself a nice old mk1 fiesta, I've found a nice little 1ltr bog standard one which although running with an MoT it will need a rolling restoration
I am new to fords so when it comes to engines I'm a little in the dark, I know me way round and engine and have rebuilt reliant engines etc so that's not the problem it's more of what's the best to fit?
I would like to fit an engine of the time (not a zetec) that hasn't got to be run on an ecu and will run on carbs etc
I'm not after ridiculous power just a bit quicker than it is, I'm all for old school tuning!
It also has to be straight forward to fit as it's got to be done on the drive
Can anyone recommend an engine and gear box that I can fit?
I'm also after retaining the original interior too
Many thanks
Luke

No Zetec, no ECU and straigt fit means:
any standard MK1 and MK2 Fiesta engine. CVH 2V (XR2/XR3, XR3i MFI with XR2/XR3 carb) might be the cheapest option for most power
