Converting a mk2 fiesta front end to mk1 XR2?
I would like to convert the front end of my mk2 to the mk1 xr2 spec with large round headlights and indicators in the bumper while im installing HID in it, does anyone know what i'll need and where I can buy it from?
I've already got the bonnet, i'm assuming the front arches are the same, but I don't know where to get the grill, bumper inc indicators or the actual head-lights or is it not possible to buy new?

a mate of mine has a mk1 xr2 he may be breaking, thing is with mk1 xr2's is the shells are different than std mk1's and if you want to create a proper looking mk1 xr2 you may find people in the know pull your car up. theres a hump in the back panel on proper mk1 xr2's so you can fit a 13" spare, the std mk1's don't have that so you can't fit a 13",theres other changes too.

I'm not creating a replica, I just prefer the look of the round lights plus I reckon they're a bigger lenses which would give better light.
If he breaks the car I don't live that far from you (where-abouts is he in Cheshire?), so I would definitely be interested in those parts and the rear spoiler.

I have advised my mate to advertise his mk1 festa on here.He has owned it for about 17yrs.Its all mk1 xr2 bits except for a 1660 x flow that was built for having a turbo (forged pistons) and I think low comped. It was having a five speed conversion the last time he was working on it,about 12 yrs ago !! and since then its sat in his unit.I think its also fitted with the rear panel same as a supersport/xr2.He is on about breaking the whole car.

from what i have been told mk1 xr2's are fetching very good money especially if broken up into parts,my mates is a almost complete car i think but he does have another mk1 feesta. he's in chester btw.
you can get mk1 wings and iirc bonnets from motor factors new still, he has got some.

You will need mk1 wings.bonnet, front panel, bumper, oh a the scuttle panel is different on the mk2's
Lot of work for not much gain tbh,go get a complete mk1 xr2 .
I sold mine a few years ago to someone in north wales A52 FGV .

another issue you will hit is the front crossmemeber. the mk1 engine bay/front end is short by a couple of inches than the mk2, so when you fit the mk1 scuttle, wings bonnet and front panel, the front crossmemeber will be sitting proud of it all, further forward.
it might be just as much work to 'spaceframe' the front end. perhaps weld in a rollcage and then build off of that. just a thought.
