Higher mileage Fiesta ST as a runabout?
Looking at buying myself a runabout and quite fancy a Fiesta ST (around a 55/56 plate), seen them around the £2800/£3500 so on budget. Would buying one with 100k miles put you off, what sort of things are likely to fail on the engine at this mileage apart from clutch etc (if that hasnt already been done). There is one for sale locally to me for £3 on 101k but just had service at Ford 2000 miles ago?

I currently have a 182 as a Dailey. And yes there a bit quicker etc and a bit cheaper.

My ex missus had one and it was a hoot to drive, ok not the quickest thing on the road but was silly cheap to run and was great fun!
As said above some 16" esc cossie wheels, i'll probably end up wrapping it knowing my track record, may even convert it to a van on the outside (wrap rear quarters!)....
Not a fan of 182's i'm afraid....

mine is a 2005 with 70000 miles on it. had it since 2006 with 6000 miles on it
problems ive had are,
blown engine, (would be classed as my fault cause i used to thrash it around when i was younger)
new alternator,
lowering springs snapped on the front and rear,
ive have heard a lot of stories about blown gearbox's but mine has never had a problem?
and i take it on track and generally abuse it at the weekends!

They are tuff cars and v reliable. Its like any car; if idiots have owned them and thrashed them every time they are driven then there are going to be issues.
Mines just ticked 96k and has been nothing but ultra reliable, the original clutch is still going strong. Its been well looked after, I bought it new and it has not been driven like a total tool. No issues with gears popping out or crunching or anything like that. All ive had to do is maintain it and replace wear and tear items.
However im sure there are cars with far less miles than mine that are experiencing issues due to poor treatment.
If you get a good one they are quite cheap to run, plus no cambelt to worry about.
