Tune st or swap
Having a debate, do I tune my st engine as much as I can supercharge etc, or st225 conversion.
Has anyone done the 225 conversion? Pros cons? Etc

Hello Jamie,
From what ive been told dont go get a supercharge for the ST, but get it to around 200 BHP as that should keep up with any focus at 300 BHP!
When you say a ST 225 conversion do you mean buy a standard focus?

To be honest with you , my mrs wanted her fiesta ST to be quicker but after looking at conversions in the long run we looked at buying a mk1 Rs or focus ST .The price to fit , insure and get parts out wieght the cost of a new car . She now has a focus Rs and I have a fiesta ST as every day car and it a hoot

Not sure how the power is applied in a RS to a ST (focus) but i was talking to some people and they told me that his 300 BHP focus ST could not get away from a 200 BHP fiesta ST, that they were pretty much even.
I guess top end the focus would keep going but say to 90 and round a track i hear the fiesta would keep up well.

Easy on the pub talk lads...
Superchargers are poop on the duratec, turbo conversions are a pain and cost £££ to do right. As for the 5 pot conversion how the hell does that fit?
N/A will show good gains for not too much money.
Just don't get caught up it a numbers chasing game, a 200hp fiesta with sorted suspension will be a lot more fun than a 300hp st

a few folk have had there diffs explode and wreck the whole box! clutch smashed, hole in the casing
iv got 180 bhp with 70k on the clock and my box has been fine doing track days and drag strip runs!
but on the other hand my mate got a st brand new, never tuned it and drives like a saint! the box blew with less than 4k on the clock!

hmm..how is 200 bhp in fiesta st cheap? you need, full exhaust, cams and springs, inlet manifold (cosworth or mountune), remap... all that for 50 bhp.
and why are s/c on fiesta crap?

AFAIK, the only commercially available supercharger kit for the Fiesta ST is by Jamsport. That name should be enough to tell you all you need to know about the reliability of the conversion...

JamSport STILL have my Diff that I paid for. Failed to send it like 5 times. Never had chance to drive up there to sort it, but will make time I think. 300 quid of my item that they have never made any effort to forward to me.
Story is MUCH longer than that, but worthy of a new thread.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but a Fiesta beating a Focus is far from impossible..

This is me against my mate, you'll see he even got off the line quicker than me (embarrassing) and i went past him.. That is when she was just a cammed duratec, fully laden with seats, spare wheel etc..
Fastest i ran was 14.8 that day, and saw a focus rs at classic ford run 14.8.. Realistically these cars aren't as far apart as people think, power to weight and the difference between n/a and turbo are vital..
On a private road pulling from 70mph may well be a different story, but on track and up the strip, i wouldn't be so sure in the focus..
Obviously, everything can be tuned, im just making the point
