Default Hpi shows Cat A and prev stolen

Done an HPi check on a car and it is coming back as Cat A write off and previously stolen. This was back in the 90's but is still worrying

It was on a previous plate then so could it be this that is causing an error as it was once connected with the car

Must just be connected with the plate, as a cat A should have been crushed straight away,
Not easy to go back on the road, it is possible in theory, but i've never known it to be done

This is really strange as the private plate it is associated with had been on the car for the first 15yrs of it's life, during which time it has markers of poss stolen after 2 years then a Cat A marker 5 years after that. That plate stays with the car for another 8 yrs then goes back to it's original plate

Have contacted the hpi company and they confirmed this was what was recorded

I will do thanks, would it show up if I asked for a quote? The hpi company said I would be unlikely to get insurance with those markers on the database

Category must be wrong, cat A is crusher, few parts worth saving.
Don't think cat A and B are allowed back on the road, it must have been insured since it was written off
