Hi Peeps

Was hoping someone could give me a bit of advice?
I have just put on new original lower arms (wishbones) on my car because i had a loud knocking sound. I have also polly bushed the front roll bar.

The problem i have found is that the roll bar is now practically touching the lower arm and the knocking is still there. I think they are hitting.

Could this be anything to do with the Koni suspension it has on the front?

Please could someone advise or try and help me out.

did you change the uplinks at all as there should really be a clear gap between the 2, also there are a few other causes for knocking such as suspension tops,hub or even driveshaft joints

Thanks for reply mate.
The suspension top and top mounts all look fine.
When the car was jacked up we jacked up the wheel woth a dif jack and as we did the gap between the wish bone and roll bar appeared, which looks like its how it should be.

This will make me sound stupid, what are the uplinks? I changed the roll bar bush

When you say up links do you mean the drop links?

Yeah that sounds to me like the drop links. If that is what you mean then they are just the standard size and they were replace a few weeks back and are fine.

you need to be sure they are hitting and its not something else like I first thought by placing maybe masking tape between them and inspecting it for marks after a drive, my rs2k had good clearance between arb and wishbones

Thats a good idea mate, it will show its hitting if tape is torn or marked. Ill have go at that and see how that goes. Do you know what the clearance should be between the arb and the wishbones? Or can that vary.
I thought it could poss be the shocks having bits in slightly different positions to the original shocks? But im defo gonna try your idea. Will let you know how that goes. Thanks for ya input an please keep it coming.

no probs as I no longer own a rs2k but I did rebuild a rs2k 4x4 from the sills upwards

So i tried your idea with the tape and all looks clean. Also checked new lower arms for any flaked paint or dents, clean as well. Then had the space doubled checked when the car was on the ground ( not jacked up ) and there seems to be about an inch or so clearance between the lower arm and the arb.
I have been advised my shocks could be on their way out as i'm getting the knocking from small bumps when driving along as appose to speed bumps etc.
Any thoughts???

usual causes are as I mentioned in post 2 ^ tbh, but its good that the wishone and arb are not touching

So what and where are the uplinks? You dont mean the drop links ? I have changed the drop links already

you have covered the uplinks/droplinks as they are different words for same thing, its the other points to look at now

Top mounts are all good, so ill get the hubs and driveshaft joints checked next then. Iv still got a sneaky feeling its the shocks and gonna need chnaging
