Default Starter Motor Issues-HELP-Darlo

We have a wired problem.

Car was not charging, so we removed alternator for a spare, no battery light on dash, got told to check little green wire from alternator, it was broken re joined an the battery light worked but stayed on so it seemed the alternator was not charging, swapped alternator back.

Battery light came on and went off as it should, but the starter motor was noisy as hell (never had an issue in the past), the starter is turning the car but seems to keep running not releasing, so we swapped for another and same story (the only thing was we were not 100% on the condition of these starters in the first place), we just bough the weekend before a mk6 gti for spares which ran ok, so we removed the starter from this.

Started it yesterday all seemed fine, but noticed the starter was still spinning and it started to smell then the car just cut out, straight out, any ideas??

We were sure all the starters were fine as we tested before fitting with batt charger (now the dont even move, they just buzz). Something is causing them to keep on running and burning themselves out.

The only other thing is we have an FIA cut off switch but the car does start and the switch kill everything as its supposed to, The starter live goes through the switch, but the car starts ok so ive sort of cancelled the switch out.

Any help/advice welcome

Do you still use an ignition key.The switch on the back of the barrel could be faulty causing the starter motor to stay engaged.

Well there's a live that goes from the starter to the alternator. Have you wired it correctly?

To be honest Im not sure anymore, Basically i removed the starter and put it back as was, and ive had problems, I must have changed starter motors 20 times before on various cars, i cannot believe the chew, to be honest im starting to think i was wrong originally and i have trusted it was correct from the start.

I have

Big Wire from Alternator to Starter connection
Green Wire from Alternator to small starter Connection

From the Battery (via cut off switch) is a Big Red wire that is connected to a FORD Plastic Shroud

And a black earth lead to the gearbox housing.
