What do people think of this sump?
Hi all two things am just trying out my photobucket and second is I've just had this done by a Company that mainly builds Subaru rally cars so they don't work on sumps like mine but give it a go anyway my only worry been the oil returning to the pick up quick enough. They said the oil will go down the sides back to the pick up.

They said they didn't put holds in the plate as that would defeating the object of want we are trying to achieve. I was thinking of putting some holes in the centre?

Firstly if there is no oil down low then there is not going to be a engine
So you need a gap all round by about 6/10 mm
I would also get a recess pressed in the middle and put a hole in the
Centre of that to
Also lift the end that is down on the pan by 3/4mm
The baffle in the bottom of the pan needs a few half round holes
At the bottom To let the oil move to the pick up .
as at the mo your going to do a good job of
Keeping it away

There is holes in the baffle plate at the bottom the picture doesn't show them. I've try poring oil in to see what happens but I don't the poring 4 litres of oil in was a good enough test really.

Has anyone fitted a 2 part Zetec sump to a ZVH/Zetec on a BC5 Gearbox? What mods have to be done for it to fit?
I know ZetecInside reckons a stock sump is fine but a recent trackday seemed to prove the opposite.

Are you OK to go into more detail about how this can be done and if there are photos showing what needs to be altered? This sounds appealing since it would be cheaper than baffling my existing sump.
I am hoping that by doing a couple of things my oil surge issues and losing alot of oil around hard bends on trackdays will become a thing of the past.

Cut both the sump wings off, trim away a bit of webbing on the front to allow the starter motor to fit. Then i had to weld some extra plate onto the gearbox sandwich plate (which needed trimming in a few places) as where the starter would be on a zetec was just a big hole to the back of the flywheel.

So the webbing you's are talking about is on the front for the start motor? I wasn't sure what you's where going on about.

My downpipe has seen a few speed bumps in its time which probably doesn't help .
Although I found once I had made my engine mount and using a manifold adapter plate my downpipe needed to be 1-2cm longer so I used this as an opportunity to add some clearance to the sump.
Incase you can't guess, I'm very anal when it comes to these things.
