Default Rst hard to start when it's cold

when my Rst is cold, or just haven't Been startede for a few hours, it takes a long time for it to start, the starter just rotate for 10-20 seconds before it starts, but i've Got new plugs, leads, and coil. But if i turn the key and make the fuel pump run a few times (turn the key back and forth) , and then keep doing this a few times before i start, the car is easier to start.
What could be wrong?

Check the thermo time switch (brown plug on the back of the inlet manifold) and cold start injector (blue plug in the back of the inlet manifold).

I've had a few issues with cold start injectors clogging up and only dribbling fuel out.

Does your fuel pump start off high in pitch and then get lower as the pressure builds up in the system?

IMO it is down to one of two things, but most likely one.

1) Fuel accumulator is tired and is leaking fuel back to the tank (most likely IMO)
2) fuel leak somewhere - it may only be misting, but again it would not help.

I take it if you flick the car from cold between key positions 1 and 2 about 5 times to prime the fuel pump the car then starts fine?

Yes thats exactly what i do. Another fact: when i get it started, runs a bit uneven (like runing on 3 cylinders) for about 3-5 secs and then runs very even and fine afterwards.

have you solved this?
i'm having the same problem, also been told it could be the fuel accumulator.
runs fine for a few seconds and then goes into some kind of missfire for a few seconds and then it clears.

If I ever change my fuel accumulator (although I had many other jobs to attend to!) I shall let you know .

Default Update

I just took the car for a run, and when i parked the car i had it runing on idle and checked the engine, and i found that there seems to be a bit of air blowing from where the turbo bolts on to the manifold, could this be my problem??

Cheers

It can be many Things that are wrong, i will say the best solution would to get someone that knows the RST to fix it, and then have it setup, it its not setup proper it can destroy you engine

A month or two ago the car started imidiatly and ran perfectly, and i haven't messed with the car in any Way, other than new coil, leads, plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm..and timing been set..
So why Would it suddenly need setup?

Are you sure, you set the timing correct, this mean have you disconnect the vacum ect. you need to set the timing

ive seen many, that have been home adjusted, and they run like sh..t becouse they didnt knew what they was doing even tho they think they do...

Now I dont know your mechanic skills, but to make sure I sugested to take it to someone that know's how to set a RST

Can I ask. Do you just try starting it with the key. Or do you have your foot on the gas half way otherwise there's no open butterfly so won't have oxeygen to ignite the fuel

Have you tried to disconnect the cold start injector to see if there is an improvement?

Also what brand of ignition components did you use? It would not be the sole cause but it would not help matters either. My RST is easier to start since using good quality parts (either NGK, Bosch or BERU).
