zetec is definitly the way forward. you will have a reliable target power rather than an expensive fragile cvh of equal power. the cvh sounds good but its no comparison to the zetec in terms of bang for buck. ill be doing a zt next time by shonky cvh shits itself

I prefer to see an 8 valve head when opening the bonnet as you should. People say the zvh is wank blar blar blar, but I reckon it's great! Mine goes like f**k with virtually any lag and the torque is immense. Power wise am not to sure but karl will be able to give an estimation??

Yes a full Zectec is better am sure but As I mentioned above I prefer to see a 8 valve head for that bit more originality.

Gearbox wise I've been running my CTS stage 2+ / ap 4paddle clutch now for 5000 miles and it's been great, I don't boot it from stand still am always rolling in 2nd when giving it any beans! No problems at all.

Let's not beat about the bush! You hear all these bad experiences with rods snapping Pistons melting gearboxes breaking etc etc when infact it's all due to having a wank engine / box or mapped very poor. Everything should be stripped and inspected to maintain reliability. Simples.

Anyway good to hear you're getting another RS mate!

Just got back from pod with my zt cabrio, we got from Blackpool to pod and back to the big Tesco near pod on Ł28 of super unleaded, steady drive down with a retro car club. Probably done Ł35 or a touch over on the way home today, wasn't hanging around. Never missed a beat, went like shit of the proverbial shovel. So happy I did this conversion.

Nah Gary, it was full of camping gear, I don't have a crash hat and worst of all I dare not as it takes a long time to get recovered from that end of the country.

I've gone the frs engine and box route running gen8 ecu that way you get the frs box and different cable shift hydro clutch, brand new loom excellent management and customer service from Rob.

Frs inlet is fine or 2ltr blacktop as mentioned. Or spend more and get one of garys inlets and exhaust manifolds too. That's what I've done as my frs head has had a fair amount of work and what to exploit this as best I can.

if your talking cvh
you could get away with machined pistons lightened n balanced bottom end. slight head port a st3 turbo and some kind of efi management, 250-60 is prob the limit of an Rs turbo in road trim.
if you want a mega reliable cvh id be fitting forged pistons n rods. keep the same power or wind her up 2 bar lol
you will prob find zvh and zetec turbo would have more power for less outlay. but you must remember every engine has its cons aswell as its pros
