Default Brake problem

hello, got a problem with my rear disc conversion.
My drivers side rear only appears to be grabbing the first inch of the disc.i put a new caliper on which made a small difference(it was only grabbing about half an inch before)
Any ideas?the passenger side rear seems fine.cheeRS.

Are the brake pads free in the carriers?
I can't remember on these calipers, but does the brake pad have a peg on the back which you have to locate in the slot on the caliper piston?
Is the caliper carrier aligned correctly?

Did you make the brackets up or buy them off the shelf? Could be the bracket is not in the right place? Have you lost any brake fluid? Maybe air in the system? Perhaps try and bleed them?

Not answering your question but make sure you have something good up front too, rear discs are a bit overkill really and under hard braking or an emergency stop situation will often lock up the rear wheels (like pulling up the handbrake)... just thought it worth mentioning if you've not experience it before.
