Default mixture and timing questions

I tried the search but I could not find a proper answer for this.

I know best thing is to take it to a specialist but those are rare finds in the Netherlands. There are plenty of places that have a dyno but the knowlegde of the MFI system is lacking. So I would like to try and find and fix most common problems so when I find a proper tuner I can drive the car to it without damaging it on the way.

I would like to know what the correct value must be for the co at idle. According to the Haynes it is between 0.5 and 1.1% at 920 to 960 rpm. But reading through several threads on the forum I stumbled on value's around 2.5% at idle and around 3 at 3000 rpm. Also I've read that changing the idle co should be done with an allen/hex key but the only screw I see on top of the unit requires a flat-head screwdriver. Or am I mistaken it for the screw to change the fuel pressure behind the black box? I know I should not touch that one.

Currently i got 0.71% but according to the mot tester it smells like it is running a little rich. I pulled the plugs and they are all nice brownish in color. I did find a crack in the exhaust pipe so false air could have compromised the reading.

Also I want to check the fuel pressure to see if the pump is delivering as it should be and if the pressure is correct while driving. But I'm not sure where I should put the meter between and what the default pressure should be at giving rpm.

and last I want to setup the timing correct but I have problems with pointing the timing light on the crankshaft pulley. It seems that the pulley lies so far back that the timing cover leans over it. It is not touching but if you look from above you cannot see the mark on the pulley as it is passing the indicators on the cover. Looking from the side gives a better view on the pulley mark but then the indicators on the cover are not clearly visible. Are there different covers for single and double pulleys or is it just me being a retard
