Just having a blast round when the weathers good plus doing a few shows etc. The car is very low and very firm at the moment and more suited to track running or on nice smooth roads but is no pleasure at all driving locally with the crap condition of the roads etc. Potholes and the like are a nightmare so just wanted a better compromise really.

IMO it depends on what you are used to.
I had a Ka on G Max springs and stock dampers. Compared to my other Ka which was on the Ford Racing setup (Eibach springs and Sachs dampers) there was a night and day difference ; the former felt wallowy over bumps and crashy over rough road surfaces. The FR setup was simply superior in almost every way. Not having the spring rates matched to the dampers and the use with the G-Max setup probably did not help matters ; most lowering springs have a stiffer rate than stock stock. I've noticed a similar thing on other cars I have owned (my Stag on lowered springs was good but rougher over uneven roads ; another car with the same setup but with KYB Gas-A-Just dampers was as smooth as silk down the same road to the point I thought there were more changes made to the car until I saw the car on the ramp).
The Koni setup is pretty good and it is probably the setup I would go with out of the available choices with either their springs (or Eibachs) or stock items.

I got G-max on my FRST, The first thing I noticed when driving it home was it felt crashy.... I checked a few days later to see what suspension it had fitted... and as i thought G-max.
On my ESRT it came with standard Sachs dampers and i'm almost certain AVO springs(old purple looking colour) It was slammed -60mm it handled very well but was crashy on uneven roads. I took them off and and fit brand new Spax PSX -40mm fit. These handle very well.
When I fit these the top mount bearings wasn't too great. The bump stops had fell into bits the gas inside the Sachs dampers had gone as you could push the strut inside and pull it out with ease.
