Default New noises and vibrations

Hi everyone. I took my S2 out for a bit of a run yesterday for the first time since just before Christmas. All seemed fine until I stopped to put petrol in. Afterwards the car was idling differently (Faster) and I could feel a strange vibration through the car, and when pulling away a kind of metallic rattle to go with it. Just not right. It seemed to pull okay though.

Also another new issue. When coming off boost after accelerating hard I get a metallic rattle like something broken. I'm assuming turbo issues with that one. I hope somebody can shed a little light on where to start.

Thanks. Steve

have you checked the exhaust isnt fouling or hitting something under the car?

Thanks Daz.

I've just had the exhaust refitted and the brackets all re-welded as it was hanging too low. Maybe something has worked loose towards the front. I'll have to get my axle stands out at the weekend and see whats up.

i had this problem with my exhaust was sitting too low and i moved it up. it then slightly rubbed on the body causing a horrible vibration. worth a look to tick something off the list if it isnt the problem.

Thanks again Daz.

Well it looks like I may have found the cause of my vibration. A few months back I took the car to have the cambelt changed and a quick once over. I've not really driven the car since then as I've had a few other issues with the car namely a massive rock that jumped up and cracked the windscreen which lead to me having to get a little bit of rust on the A pillar attended to. Anyway on a close inspection and a root around in the engine bay last night I discovered a massive 14" pry bar running from the manifold to the drivers side inner wing where it rested. It passed through the alternator belt missing it by about 5mm. It has to be the place I took the car as I haven't taken it anywhere else. Would of been fun had it worked its way loose and rattled around the engine.
