Default mk2. FRS engine?

Sure it's been asked already but kind find anything using search as it brings just about every single thread up!! Had anyone tried squeezing the mk2 FRS engine and box into a series 2 bay?? There's plenty about now and priced pretty much the same as a mk1 frs engine. Seems an easy way to 300 relaible bhp. Talking physically fitting here, understand management and all custom mounts and shafts etc will be required.

Id say Not a chance in a escort bay the mk1 focus engine and box doesn't fit without cutting and the mk 2 has the extra cylinder

Someone has put an ST 5 pot in a mk4 cab. But the resto thread hasn't been up dated in years. There is a lot fab work involved but both engine and box where bolted up and fitted in the bay. Don't know if it ever got finished. Even though its a 5 pot engine, the gearbox is very compact.

Hmm, looks too tight to be fair and does that gearbox look way too far forward to get any kind of decent angle for the driveshafts to exit usingn the original openings??

theres a lad on the Facebook page 'escort rs turbo series 2' he's gotta white one and has a mk2 frs engine in there the big 5 cylinder and box I've seen the photos as proof, i spoke with him said the only expensive thing is the engine (of course) the rest he did himself and had a local firm make some mounts for him, in his words its a monster

Hmm, I'll try track him down. The engines seem quite readily available and less than a mk1 engine. Also wouldn't need any tuning at all with standard power been what I'd call spot on for a series 2.

That was always my original idea like the 205 using the FRS gearbox. Just need to commit to something I guess as it's having new management and fuel system fitted so really anything can go in. Evo lump would look the part and VERY tunable. Fancy a project??
