Right compression on the engine is 150 psi across all 4, norm when i take the oil cap off engine cuts out etc. I have JUST fit a new turbo a T34 BRAND NEW. Right started the engine as norm and was running, taken the oil cap off and the engine didnt stutter or cut out ? WTF would fitting a new turbo change things like that or has my ring fairy been in the workshop................ any help or advise would be much appraiciated ! oh and done no miles when doing the oil cap off and on the new turbo ...................

I thought all escort rs turbos cut out or run lumpy when the oil cap is removed due to the bosch k-jet set up. I might be wrong. It's a bit odd what you're describing, I wouldn't worry about it if it runs fine.

It will only run if the breather return to the metering unit has been blocked off or is blocked with crap.

Have you fitted the catch tank to the port on the bailey breather that would go to atmosphere or the metering head, have you then blocked the metering head port off?

It might be running so rich that the air leak is not causing it to stall.

Can you answer me one last thing, i understand you can block the metering unit vent pipe and then vent the bottom of the baileys but isnt that just the same as having the oil cap off anyway ...................... o why does it not die when you do that ????????

The pipe that you block on the metering unit is connected to the breather system if running standard breather, therefore any airleaks created screw with the fueling. If the pipe is blocked off at the metering unit and set up accordingly then the breather system can no longer cause a air leak.

why not do it that way from new as then the fresh air will be better for the engine right. So in theory your closing the breathing loop and the bottom of the baileys can just have the hose to underside to 'oil' the floor

Just 'oil' the floor as you say. mines runs like this and I'm sure I read somewhere that putting a filter on the end of this pipe was a bad idea.
