S2 Turbo Speakers & Wiring etc
Wasn't sure whether to put this in here or the audio section - just looking for some advice really.
My S2 still has all 4 standard speakers & wiring etc but a Sony CD player - and to be honest I hardly ever have it on but when I do it's rubbish.
I'm planning on stripping out the interior over the winter and freshening things up - part of this will be to replace all of the standard speakers and wires with new better quality items so I wanted to purchase the parts beforehand.
I want to keep the car looking standard with no cutting etc so what speakers would you recommend to fit directly in the pods and what wiring? Also any pointers to some good suppliers would be good especially local to Mansfield Notts or Derby.
Not too bothered about having big amps and subs etc just want a nice clean sound and retain the original looks of the car.
Thanks,

I think the standard Mk4 speakers are 4" which is why they sound so poor.
The best way to get audio (anything reasonable) into the car, is to make custom panels either for the door cards, or for the kick panels. Audioscape used to build ready to go door panels for the escorts and they were brilliant.
Getting some custom built may be expensive but worth it (depending on who builds them)
I wouldnt bother putting anything in the rear personally, just concentrate on the front.
I would recommend putting some sound deadening into the car though, especially if you are stripping it all out!

i have original ford radio cassette
all ford wiring as it is just replaced the speakers in door with some nice sony ones that fit directly in same housing, and replace rear speakers with some nice sony ones, direct fit, you wouldn't even notice they were any different, just change the connectors for spade to join them in. keeping original wiring is fine
as long as you don't plan anything techno or hardcore then for me they are adequate, totally perfect for the radio music, classic fm, radio 1 and 2 its all great
