petrol keeps clicking at the pump
everytime i fill up it takes like 15 minutes to do a full tank, i feel a right standing there bent over filling the car up for so long.
basically it'll fill for a while then "click" wait for the fuel to go down, fill and then click...this will go on for ages, holding the handle on the nozzle slightly so it fills up soooo slow works but takes ages.
i guess theres a breather problem somewhere, theres a "thing" attached to the down pipe that has 2 small breather pipes running off but need some thoughts first as it seems fine
what would you suggest???

I would suggest taking the two little pipes off at the filler neck and see if it makes it any better to fill up before dropping the tank. Be careful though as they tend to be very brittle these days.

Have always had this issue (all breathers/pipes clear - even removed the main filler neck to check for obstruction). Has been the same on both mk4's ive owned, i just live with it. Tho 15mins seems a tad excessive, im usually standing there for 5 (had the car too long to still feel like a moron nowadays )

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Is it also not down to the fact that these old things were designed for 4star fuel and the pump nozzle angle/shape was different to the unleaded design.
