engine swap
Morning. My s2 running 1.6 cvh on mfi is needing a new block at least if I had a budget of say 1000 - 1500 what options would I have for engine swap? What parts would I need? And what to do about management?
Thanks
Thanks

Cheers Janno but I'm going to do the work myself as I'm on a tight budget for now just after a reliable 200-250 bhp.
Looking at a silvertop conversion but need some help what power do the standard rods/pistons take and how do you go about lowering the compression ratio?
Does anyone have a link to a fitting guide?
Also does anyone know what management to run as I'm a complete novice with it but wanting to learn thanks

Better + cheaper option would be an ST170 bottom end with a Blacktop head, bottom end has supposedly been proving at 350bhp so plenty of strong enough for a moderate build.

It still isn't a mega cheap option even if you can do it all yourself, a lot of little costs here and there soon add up, things like suitable clutch, all the gaskets and seals, I reckon my engine still stood me at a grand, I did use a brand new head.
Then the op needs management and mapping. Deffo worth him having a look through Karlos's guide though.

Ideal thanks for the replies looks like this is the route I will take.
What can I do about management as the car is currently on mfi. Is the fiesta efi conversion suitable or will I need to go aftermarket
Thanks

OFAB/OFAC I think would be your easiest option, not so easy to come across these days though.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
You have to think about the things like aftermarket will have a new loom, new modern ecu, more features and a much bigger selection of mappers compared to the old fiesta ofac/ofab. Unless anybody does a decent off the shelf chip for a zetec turbo??

I see what you mean so is megasquirt a decent system? Going for a decent rebuilt efi cvh now as it's keeping the car a little more original

Plenty of MS mappers around, good DIY too.
