yes another No Spark From Coil problem.now stumpted
Hi,standard rst... driving aiong and car just cut out.... just kept turning over like theres no spark,
then out the blue she fired up fine and managed to drive about 1/2 mile and just died again
Not getting any spark from coil. I was getting around 12 volts at the coil terminals...
done the green wire test with the bulb flashing whilst turning over. Can smell fuel np at all
I then thought its the distributor after reading many a post
So..bought a second hand distributor and silver ecu (just in case)
fitted the dizzy and started almost first turn , was missing quite bad so shut off to find
I had the leads in the wrong postion on the dizzy cap so changed them to the correct position only to find the car wont start again!!!! swopped out the ecu to no avail.
I just doint understand it fired up with the leads in the wrong position and when corrected it wont fire up again...
have i killed the new second hand dizzy or sensor inside with this error?
Any comments welcome

yeah forgot to mention swapped the coil for an old one thats was still working and the leads have also been changed = but admit im running a cheap euro car parts coil.
Had this no spark issue a short while back...https://passionford.com/forum/ford-e...ont-start.html
although on this occasion removing the plug from No1 and doing a spark test somehow made the enigne start and didnt have a problem for about 5 weeks until now...and the same remove spark plug test hasnt worked
oh yeah and have noted my lousy spelling!

ok update..found i have spark at the plugs
so whilst turning over I decided to start pressing the the throttle all the way down. To my encouragement it sounded for a second like it was tring to fire up but heard a couple of low pops from maybe the inlet area
unfortunetly its flat battery time so gonna have to wait a while
popping in inlet area is that about bad timing or something?

but now have worked out im getting spark and with the foot on the gas and turning it over i heard a few pops in the inlet area or close by
its weird that after putting on the different dizzy and the leads in the wrong oreder it fired up although it was missing quite bad...put the leads in the right order and nothing just spins over

you need to start logically from the beginning then.
Spark, Fuel and compression
you are missing something.
if it is sparking strong and at the correct time then you have a fuel issue

well thanks everyone for your replys....result.
Firstly the whole episode of the engine just dying is down to the failed distributor..hall sensor i think. and this was not just a striaght fail as the engine cutting out issue happened 3 times over 5 weeks.
My original diag of no spark was correct until the dizzy was replaced but when i tried to start with the replacement dizzy the severe missing I thought was due to the leads in the wrong order when infact they were in the right order, but i guess taking plugs in and out swapping this and that caused a bit of damp or something to make it not fire up smoothly, so I changed the order to gods know what and of course I felt i was back to the original problem of it just turning over and over.
??Why i just didnt swap the leads back aroung i dont know..at least it was fireing??
It was indeed back to basics Cossie Sean and got the 1-3-4-2, (1 being at 2 oclock and then anti clockwise) correct. so out of the 6 days off the road only 1 day down to my foolishness the rest was damn bank holiday post delays
Thanks again folks till next time
