Default Dizzy and confused help please

Iv not owned my s2 long and I've always felt it is very laggy, ironed out a few problems and now I'm at ignition timing, the dizzy is turned to max advance but this doesn't seem enough I've taken the securing pins out and to allow more adjustment and it runs loads better.
Could it be fitted with the wrong dizzy?

Just get it set up properly, if you just advancing the timing without checking its correct you could damage your engine

It's going up to MSD soon but trying to sort out as many probs as poss before hand. If I turn the dizzy back from this max position the engine stalls so that's why I'm thinking maybe it's not the right part?

Set the timing to 10 degree's BTDC using a timing light and with the vacuum line to the ECU disconnected and blocked off, if it stalls then you need to adjust the idle speed screw to allow more air in not advance the timing, that's probably the most dangerous thing you could have done bar turning the boost up!!

dizzy is right , 2 of mine have same numbers as that,
does sound like a static timing issue, as mentioned above
little notch on lower pulley align with lower plastic casing most raised notch on plastic, take top belt cover off too , pointer on cam pulley points to a punched dot on the head,,
well it should if its right

Had a quick look at the cam timing this morn and the dot on the head is roughly 10 o'clock which would make the ignition timing more where it should be but looking online it seams the dot should be at 12 o'clock ... Any ideas ??

Thanks bud .. Iv figured the cam timing and it correct the dot is at the top don't know why the other is there. I'm narrowed it down to what must be a faulty dizzy?
10 deg static timing can't be achieve unless the dizzy is taken past it's furthest point of advance (I'm not planning to run it like that just test perposes)
Have I mist checking anything?
