Default 82deg thermostat and uprated switch KEEPS fan going won't turn off

hello everyone

with the nice weather today i set about removing the bottom radiator hose and flushing all the coolant, its been in there 12 months and i wanted to change to a lower 82deg thermostat and the cossie fan switch from burton power its a 88-77deg switch.

enjoyed doing all the work, cranked the engine, let it idle until the fan kicked in, and it just stayed on, forever. the temp gauge needle was quite low like near the N or O, the engine bay wasn't and roasting as it normally is.

have i done something wrong, this fan just never turned of after like 10 minutes so i just switched the engine off and came indoors as all the light has gone and i can resume tomorrow.

help please on this, do i leave it in or use the other fan switch i still have

That's a very low temp switch. Better off with one from an S1 (92-87 deg)

You haven't done anything wrong, the switch is too low for a CVH, fit a standard one.

Right guys just digging this thread up as i suspect my S2 has an uprated fan switch, the car was having fans coming on and off as they should do in the cooler months but recently with this hot weather they continue to stay on.
Can anyone tell me if the original fan switch should have 2 pin connectors or the 2 spade type. The car has the spade type fitted which i suspect is the uprated type.

I guess with the warmer ambient air the fans can't cool the coolant enough to turn the fans off (85c or whatever it is) so they are just staying on. Mine runs very hot this time of year and the fans are on alot. Water wetter might be your friend?
