Just a quick question really guys.

Ive got the inlet manifold off my 90 spec Series 2, and have noticed a fluid running out of the centre 2 ports on the back of the head. I thought it was petrol at first, but can confirm its coolant. The car is up on axle stands, and leaning slightly rearwards.
Is this normal?

Seriously? Yer it was a standard feature helped designed to self-service the engine so you never had to drain old cruddy fluid out...

No dude, new gasket needed (make sure you torque up the inlet correctly too - probably the reason its leaked in the first place)

Seem to have misunderstood my question.
The manifold wasnt leaking when it was on the car. Ive only took my original one off to replace with a chromed one. I noticed the coolant dripping out while i was doing other work on it. I thought it strange to see coolant coming passed the injector plate thats all.
I have a new gasket to go on when i reassemble.

In that case it's completely normal
But you may want to change both gaskets while you are at it, it's not like they cost a serious amount of money

Ah, as above then. Normal, but yes make sure you replace both gaskets as it saves messing around later

Not normal, as the injector plate is hold in place by one nut. You can change your inlet manifold and with the injector plate still tightened up, there will be no leak.

Get a new gasket, clean the surfaces thoroughly, put the gasket in and use sealant (hylomar etc.) around the coolant area in the middle on both sides.
