Only ever buy off rsoc, here or eBay. I have used car parts express and found service great.

I have bought a good bit of gear off eBay. One thing I never do is spend more then x amount, always pay correctly with eBay, get registered post and use seller with good feedback

I'd go with ebay if you are buying as its totally in favour of buyers these days.

I'd be wary of forums. You get a lot of scammers sign up to forums claiming they have things that they don't etc.

In fact the only time I've had issue's buying stuff was from forums.

Just remember. Only pay via paypal and pay for "goods". If you pay via bank transfer or paypal gift you are just giving your money to a stranger. A lot of people try the "could you send paypal gift so I dont get stung with fee's?" if this is the case I just offer to pay the extra to cover the fee's. You'd be amazed how many people back out of the sale after that.
