RS1600i rocker cover on RST engine
I'm looking to fit an RS1600i rocker cover to my Escort RST engine. It will be running cossie management and is currently on MFi - i'm quite happy to keep the MFi inlet and know it'll need to be modified in order for the throttle body to be relocated (similar to Muz's set up).
Can anyone tell me what modifications need to be made and is it possible to use the XR3i throttle body and inlet or will i need to make a hybrid of the two to make it work?
I know Christian Major supplied Muz with his set-up and i know Gus also has an RS1600i rocker so it can be done.
Also, i know of the disadvantages of using this type of set-up - different lengths of inlets for each cylinder etc. but i'd like this to differ in looks from my 1900 CVH turbo and have always really liked the look of the RS1600i rocker cover.
Any advice or tips greatly appreciated.

The rs16i inlet is better than xr the tb is a lot bigger
I once stripped one to rebuild with rst parts but never finished it
Rst with a rs16i inlet and rocker cover is cool
My rs rocker cover is on eBay at the moment

hadn't thought of the RS1600i inlet and throttle, purely cause i have XR and RST ones in the garage. May need to look into getting one and modding that.
I have a friend who is a fabricator who is teaching me to weld so this is going to be a bit like a school project for me

Yeah I'll be going side fed with no crossover pipe. What else needs to be done other than custom pipe work to re-route the crossover - I'm assuming just the usual Cossie Management mods?

I know I'll need to modify the inlet to accept the Cossie throttle body but I'd need to a normal RST inlet anyway.
Not sure about the fuel rail, that might require the same modifications that the RST one would. I'll speak to Jano about it and see if he's seen it done before
Cheers guys

Hadn't thought about the angle on the intercooler, knew about the injectors, didn't have that problem when I converted my RST though as I used a full EFi inlet

There are several options.
1. RS1600i rocker cover and std ERST inlet. You'd have to modify the rocker cover (cut off several cooling fins and the Ford Motorsport badge), a sacrilege imo. I'm glad you already mentioned you won't do that.
2. RS1600i rocker cover and side feed inlet
2. a) RS1600i inlet. Same square bolt pattern as the ERST throttle body. You'd just have to sort the pipework, fit the EFI injectors, mount the fuel rail, modify the tb to make the different TPS (MFI has got a throttle position switch for idle and full load, EFI need a trottle position SENSOR) fit, fit a ISCV somewhere... done.
2. b) XR3i inlet. Easier to get than the RS1600i one, no big difference, the plenum is a little bit bigger and the trumpets smaller. And there are two options for the TB. Get an adaptor plate out of an MK3 XR3i. They had the triangular bolt pattern on the inlet, but an adaptor to make the square type tb (like the RS1600i, the ERST and the 2.8i had) fit. Second option would be to get a triangular TB out of a MK4 XR3i MFI catalyst (90 bhp, wasn't sold in the UK), this also has got a TPS like the ERST, you can use a Cossie TPS with this TB. Forget option 3 (welding an adaptor to the XR3i inlet to make the Cossie/ERST TB fit).
A friend of mine used setup 2. a) with his 1.9 litre CVH turbo with the WM. Worked fine except for several sensor failures. I'd go for a modern full mappable injection nowadays.
I've also got a RSi rocker cover, a RSi inlet, a RSi TB. All modified for EFI injectors, and full mappable injection. 1.6 CVH N/A. There are lots of pictures on my thread somewhere on page 3, 4 or 5.

I'm sure I looked on there and it wasn't explained fully so I PM'd him - he said it was from Christian Major's car and Muz bought the set up as it is.
I could have missed a page out though so I'll trawl through it again.
Getting the turbo engine stripped down tomorrow and then going to start the rebuild.

Should have thought on you mate, dunno why I never!
Keep them aside for me and I'll get them with some other parts in a few weeks.
