Mk1 focus rs engine in a S2
I tried google to fine out this but haven't found a clear answer.
Can I fit a mk1 Focus rs engine on my S2 since it's a zetec and not a duratec?
Could I keep my gearbox?
Does the sump, water pump etc still need changed?
Thanks

I was wanting to keep the engine bay unmodded as it's too good a shell to mess with. So was hoping to put the rs engine in, plumb it up and then get it shipped to a tuners to get it running properly , due to where I live I can't just pop back and fore

Keep the sump and water pump, you will need to modify the belt setup but that's easy.

No its a duratec like I said, But pretty much a Zetec.
Edit to add, Some info to back up claim.
The Focus RS Mk I was produced from 2 October 2002 to 11 November 2003 and was Ford's return to the RS (Rallye Sport) badge after the demise of the tweaked Escorts, particularly the fabled Ford Escort RS Cosworth. Production was limited to about 4500 from the outset, and the car was largely built on its own assembly line in Ford's Saarlouis plant, with some additional specialist off-line assembly performed by the ACÜ group at Überhern. The RS was offered all over Europe, but 2147 were sold in the United Kingdom, by far its largest market.[13] The Mark 1 Focus RS was a limited production run available in 21 European countries.
Using a turbocharged version of the 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine, the Focus RS rated at 212 horsepower (158 kW). A total of 4501 were produced at Ford's Saarlouis plant.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
megasquirt, omex, basically ask who's mapping it.
You will need to mod the area your escorts engine mount bolts to on the inner wing a little bit in order to clear the timing belt tensioner.
Have a look through Karlos's zetec turbo guide, it will point you in the right direction.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
My mates got a 1.6 zetec one sat in his garage? Rear starter one, and the cvh mounts bolt straight on coz I am dropping a zetec in one of mine and using a rear starter one. Already bolted mounts on. If it's any good

Yeah it's ib5 I think and yeah exactly the same box as mine. I got pics of mounts bolted on mine if you need them. I just swapped a few bolts around on the gear box. Took 5 mins

Ib5 rear starter job done. There quiet a common gearbox to find.As above the Blacktop engine will go in with a trim to the engine mount to clear the idler pully. Also the engine mount its self will need modding to meet all the locating holes on the back of the block.Frst flywheel or zetec 1600/1800 fiesta escort flywheel with rs turbo clutch/paddle clutch.I don't think the frs clutch with fit in the ib5 box might have to convert to focus rs box or something if its in your budget. As above for ecus depends on what you want really. There was a guy who got his focus rs ecu to work with his fiesta rs1800 loom but I don't think it was easy.I no you have an escort but the wiring isn't that far different from fiesta to escort.

Get the full 3i efi loom there not hard to replace its plug and play mate.Or get the engine bay loom from an xr2i 8v or frst or a zetec engine bay loom and wire it in there is diagrams about.I can give you a few diagrams if your stuck.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
There are numerous ways to get the results, as for the 3i loom its all irrelevant if your fitting standalone management as it will have its own loom.
You also need to consider who is gonna be doing the build etc and give us a idea of your budget and target bhp.

Much appreciation for all the help!
Have bought engine
Thinking to use frst inlet
Can I use a mk4 Efi cabby flywheel? Or does it need to be zetec?
Could I use the focus rs engine loom and ecu? Or is it over complicated.
I read through Karlos's guide and spoke to Marc Donnelly both really helpfull cheers!

PassionFord Post Whore!!
cabby flywheel should be ok, aslong as Rs turbo clutch fits, flywheel to crank bolt holes might need drilling a mm bigger.
Forget the focus Rs management.
