Does anybody know the product code for these?
Or where I can order one from?
I'm not having any luck at all.

Cheers

Cheers karlos, although they have just messaged me saying they won't send it out with my cars Registration. Which will obviously be incorrect...

Well turns out that isn't the right release bearing. Its about 2.5mm internal diameter to small.

So im completely stumped as to which one I need now.

Will it make a difference if I'm using a Ka 1.3 gearset or is the sleeved part of the gearbox the same?

Oh shit! Really sorry mate I have no idea why that isn't correct?!
Ka gear set shouldn't effect it no.
The BC gearbox (RST) one is smaller but IB5's are all the same size as far as I knew.

No worries man. I honestly thought they were all the same. The internal diameter is like half a mm different, but the sleeve it sits on is much smaller. So both parts are slightly different, so i cant mix and match.

Its got me really confused.

Just had a look on their website and they don't list it. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Rob_Dohc has some trouble with this, there must be 2/3 different sized release bearings maybe for diff IB5 boxes?

I think so. The most annoying things is I have the gearbox number, the code off of the old bearing, and even all the measurements... but anyone i speak to on the phone just says "can't help you with any of those, just give me the cars reg number"

I guess the safest way then is to buy one for whatever car your box comes from as it's the casing sleeve it fits over.

Trouble is I have no idea what my box has come off. :/

I've also found out today that I need a beveled release bearing and not a flat one (which is one of the reasons my clutch has been so horrible). So that has just made the search even more interesting.

Right!

I decided to ring C.G Motorsport (clutch specialists as Luke gave me the code^^) and had a chat with chap named Michael.

After the hassle I had trying to just find the release bearing this is the information he gave me:

There is only two sizes of Ford release bearing (so that one I received that was slightly smaller must have been packaged wrong or been a mickey mouse knock off)
Also, there is no IB5 release bearing with a beveled face, they are all flat, which is wrong for an RS Turbo clutch as the pressure plate is flat. This means the bearing I was looking for doesn't exist supposedly.

So in the end he made me one up charged me Ł26 and it was delivered in 25 hours. Result!

Ah at last!! Good to know there is only two sizes as we previously thought too.
Regards using a flat faced bearing and RST clutch, there is no real problem doing this, I have at least four cars out there running that setup with well over 100k miles between them and no problems... It does make the pedal a little heavier though.

Sorry to bump up an old thread but there is some useful information here and it is exactly the topic I need to get more info on.

My setup is:

Silvertop zetec engine
Helix 215mm 4 paddle clutch plate and matching cover (from a series 2 - bought on here)
Mk5 adjustable pedal conversion
Release bearing from CG Motorstport - I spoke to someone there and explained what I needed and they sent the bearing out

I have fitted it all and my clutch pedal feels really heavy and there is a very noticable lump when it is half pressed. I have tried asjusting the pedal more than once and I cannot get it to feel anything like it should.

I have also checked that the cable has not got routed wrong anyway, it all looks good.

Release bearing wrong?
Clutch plate on backwards (Was sure I had checked this but I'm thinking about it so much I'm now doubting myself)

Any information anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. Hopeully it's not a gearbox out job as I've only just put it all in haha!

I had a Helix in my car, very heavy pedal with noticable snappy lump in the middle (this is when it disengages/engages) It wasn't a 4 paddle, just an uprated organic. However, the diaphram springs on the pressure plate were very short and thick. I should imagine this is where the snappyness came from.

Spent ages second guessing myself whether I had it installed correctly etc. In the end after speaking to a few people about helix clutches I binned it for an AP equivalent.

I think that is the general consent with helix. They do their job, they are just not very friendly to live with.

However, before you start pulling things to bits maybe talk to someone running the same set up (as said mine was an organic, they may use different pressure plates), or even see if you can have a go in another one running a helix paddle.

What has the shape of the release bearing you're using? was it beveled or flat?

It is bevelled. I had a few different ones but I had none that would fit on the 35mm center shaft in the gearbox. That's when I phoned the clutch place and explained my exact situation and they sent out the bearing for me.

It's hard because there isn't really anyone that local, I'd like someone else to have a look at it to see what they think before I start pulling it apart like you say!

Do you think part of the problem could be that the plate is 215mm rather than 220mm?

As long as its bevelled its the right one. I had a flat one on mine originally and you could feel it rocking. It also slightly cut into the diaphragm springs which can't have helped. However, even with a beveled release bearing it was to heavy for my liking.

This is the difference in springs I mentioned. I'm not 100% sure on clutch opperation, however, going on leverage I would imagine this is what causes the helix to be so heavy.

Ap pressure plate:

The helix also had what looked like doubled up shorter springs underneath.

Yeah I definitely have the helix pressure plate and a bevelled bearing from CT... Perhaps I need to try driving thecar and if I really hate it I'll change the clutch I guess.

The clutch does feel like it works it just feels horrible it will be a pig to drive
