I really wish i never done that rear disc conversion. Now 273mm rear discs, 283mm front discs and bias valve in rear brake line but still brake balance does not work. My compensators were broken so i put those in bin.

You could always add another bias valve maybe antti? or an inline limiter. Did you change to front/rear split?

Rob,
No, i havent try that.. first thing in spring when i can do something in shed i will change 273mm -> 253mm brake discs. I have to find suitable brackets first.
However i dont think 2 bias valves are good thing?

Probably not lol, but it would definitely limit pressure to the rear lol. Changing from 273 to 253 seems a good compromise. Are you running a front rear split system?

Pretty sure you can use rear callipers off of a focus, mondeo, sierra etc, with disks to suit. It is probably dictated by what bracket you buy.

You will also need to convert your car from a diagonally split system to a front rear split system for the bias valve to work.

Saying all of that, IMO i wouldn't bother.

I agree with Rob, dont do it, it's a waste of time unless you have some massive stoppers on the front (330mm or similair), as you'll end up biasing so much out they will only provide as much breaking force as drums anyway! lol

I have very good brakes never had a problem.

My mate on the other hand my setup came off a mates car all the same apart from the fact that he removed the rear compensatiors and was quite sketchy under hard brakeing!

I would wack a bias valve if i had any problems!

oh and the drums look wank imo

cheers john

Hi Guys

The person who owned my erst before me had changed to rear Caliper set up.

I have refurbished the rear Calipers but I need new braided rear hoses.

Would they just be cosworth hoses for cosworth Calipers ? I assume the end that joins on the cars brake pipe side is same thread on escort as it is Sierra ?

Hope that makes sense lol

Any help greatly appreciated

Les

I think burton power do some specific hoses for the rear disc conversion on the escorts.

I guess most people fit rear discs for one thing ; a willy waving contest. NMS told me that in 99% of cases S2 drums and the Cosworth setup up front would be spot on, and that anything larger could 'overbrake' an RST, with him not being convinced by the bias valves and compensators people were using.

Likewise, my rears still bite hard!

I would have kept the rear drums but they changed for Caliper set up

Think it's too much hassle to change back now, shame tho

Who sells the brackets now?

Also is it only the Ford Ka that you can use the brake in line compensator off?
