Default What size rims for fast road/trackdays are best????

Thinking of changing the rims on my car, currently has 17" soflines with r888 tyres. What size do most people use? Wondering if 16" would be better? or even 15" also what tyres as r888s are great but dont last five mins driving to shows and then on the track.

toyo have a new tyre out called the r1r the next one down from the 888s i havent tryed them yet but have read good things about them and they do more miles than the 888s .
they were developed on the new evo10 fq400.

Depends how much you want to spend on tyres ?

15's are going to be cheaper than 17's and more plenty so 15's would be the choice BUT have you got bigger brakes ? if so then you would have to go 16's but then you'll find 16 inch tyres are about as expensive as 17's so maybe just stick with 17 or have 2 set's of wheels , road and track .

These sound like a good tyre, are they semi slick? Thats the only thing that lets the 888s down is how god damm fast they wear.Got about 3k miles out of my last ones

if your gunna do track days why not just get some old rst/ cossie 15"s and stick some t1r tyres on, and use your rs7s for best? also what size disc do you run?

Was thinking that but dont really have the space to keep a spare set of wheels plus dont really want to keep having to swap about.Would rather just have one good all round set.

Have 310mm wilwoods.Think they will just go under 15s wont they?

I've ran 15's and 17's for track work, and it has to be said 15" 888's are alot cheaper than 17's if you want to run a spare set of wheels to keep for the track only.

I used to run my 17's on the road and had the standard 15's on 888's which i took to trackdays, but i fancied trying the 17's so now have them shod in 888's and tbh i've found them better on track than the 15's, more grip and more traction out of corners. As i run coilovers i also wanted to use the 17's as when the car is corner weighted iit will throw it all out using different size wheels.

If you're using yours alot on the road i'd definately buy some cheap track wheels and get some road tyres on your 17's, i don't think you see the full benefits of 888's on the road anyway as you never get enough heat into them!

I've got a few trackdays booked for this year, but I will be driving the car to them as it is road legal. 8x17 for me with 205/40/17 Paradas.

Need the 17's to clear my Focus RS Brembo's.

7" wide, 205/40/17 tyres......i do get slight rubbing on the rears when cornering really hard tbh, but some of that's down to how i had the coilovers set to be fair! With a bit of adjustment they should be ok, and the tiniest bit of arch could do with being taken off really which i will do if raising it slightly doesn't solve it. I've only done a couple of trackdays on the 17's with the 888's and was pleasantly surprised with how the car handled, this year i'm hoping to get the suspension set up properly/corner weighted etc. I always ran the standard wheels in the 195/50/15 and had no issues with that whatsoever just trying somethin else out

im gonna be using 8jx17's on mine with 210-620-17 slicks

if that fails i also a few sets 8jx16's not got any tyres for these yet tho

if was starting again i would go back to 15's tho just because of tyre choice and prices
