![]() ultimately if its going fast that is your main concern, a 1600 cvh engine isnt really the natural choice.

i agree, i suppose there is a nice stockness and achievement to getting 300+ from the 1600, but in reality it is far cheaper and more reliable to build a zetec turbo or zvh....... remember 300 brake will rape most gearboxes you will put on it lol so unfortunately in my book you would need to do an MTX75 swap as well.

I think personally I would just fit a standard focus RS engine and box on aftermarket management if I wanted 300bhp in a mk3/4 escort.

Sounds a reasonable basis for decent power if its setup right.
Get it onto a set of rollers at a decent tuners and im sure they can advise you where to go next. Jamsport seem the logical choice if you are on gotech, as they have done more with the combination of a CVH engine on Gotech than the rest of the world combined I would wager.

I get the impression that you dont really understand quite how much work is involved in getting a big power engine to work well, its not just a case of bolting a few bits on.
Who is going to be mapping it when you have finished?

jamie will want a gt30 on it then if its one of his big power cvh engines.
p-s why keep it cvh?? and what gearbox are going to use? if its a bc/ib5 it will end in loads of fucked boxes!! then theres the clutch theres not that much choice for big power on the cvh. Last edited by crazycage; 31-12-2009 at 03:16 PM. |

The Zetec is proven to have stronger internals and better gas flow, after all ford thought it was good enough to turbo. Also the whole gearbox not taking the power etc. You would be as well to buy a Focus RS. |

What bumpers does it have, wheel size, gearing choice, wing mirrors, cut out for intercooler.....
Its hard to say, i could have a car making 450 bhp but if it peaked at 3500 revs and was only able to make 200bhp by 4000 it might not be much faster than stock. |

,massive harvey gibbs spec engine consists of the following.
1690 cvh block polished and sized rods mahle low comp pistons [7.6:1c/r] polished crank and shells recon head using genuine ford gaskets,seals brand new distributor+group a coil new dizzy cap and rotor arm new 8mm ford motorsport leads new stage 3 turbo 48 a/r housing,60 trim compresser wheel radtech front mount cooler with twin fans new radiator new samco hoses new ford hoses unlimited boost chip mapped by harvey gibbsset to peak at 26 psi and hold 24 psi uprated fuelling,with pressure regulator active,cold start removed fully rebuilt big bearing gearbox s2 gearing and LSD built into series 1 casing helix 4 paddle clutch techniclutch h/d cover plate and release bearing braided lines new alternator b@m short shift kit Rolling roaded at scs stage 2 at 26psi @271bhp still a lot of bhp in a little car especially with no lag
