Default Making Inlet manifold

I'm planning on making an inlet manifold for my zetec turbo.
Just wondering if it is better to fit smal trumpets in the manifold like in a cosworth manifold or just a flat plate?

thanks

Trumpets depending on size and shape will increase gas velocity which increases response, so long as they are not too restrictive, the oposite without them.

What is "too restrictive"?
Have a cosworth manifold laying around here and was gonna use those trumpets..

i made mine using a 2wd cossy inlet.
firstly i opened the trumpets out to 44mm id .then cut them off the manifold.
then i cut out the center section and welded a 10mm thick plate in,with 51mm holes aligned to the zetec inlets.
i then welded 51mm 10 guage tube into 1 side, and the trumpets on the other side.
the tubes connect to the st170 inlet via a piece of samco type hose.

thanks but crazycage deserves all the credit as he makes them for us, it is easier to start without trumpets , will have another one knocked up in future with trumprts as we borrowed some out of a cossie and have the stuff to make another as above but will throw trumpets in and dave i've had him busy of late with a stainles manifold for the t34 but i'm sure he'll be straight on to it asap

am going to be making a new inlet manifold for my car, what should i take into account? should the t/b be on left/right side of the manifold? an could putting the sensors in the wrong place effect the flow?

Saw this on fiestaturbo.com:

Compatible OEM manifold and adaptor plate

At the time of writing, the only OEM manifold that has seen use with the Zetec is the Rover 820 unit. this has medium length runners, a 1.8-2.0 sized plenum and the port shape is almost identical to the Zetec. The bolt patten unsurprisingly doesn't like up, so an adaptor plate is used. Tests have shown this manifold is capable of flowing enough for 360bhp.

+ Good port match and flow ability.
- Limited availability.

could you use the little trumpets you buy for carbs if they had the right internal diameter?

there quite cheap aswell rather than buying an inlet for its trumpets
