Water in the footwell when heavy rain
My passenger side footwell seems to fill with water whenever there is bad rain. I'm assuming its that the passenger door never seems to shut completely, presumably it is hung wrong. But there is no water gathering in the door itself, only the footwell. Are there any seals or places i can check?

I get the same problem in the drivers footwell.
Again, no rust under the bonnet anywhere, perfect screen seals and perfect door fit with all rubber stuff as new and intact.
Sunroof drains are working and the sill drains are clear and dont collect water.
Its doing my head in. However, if I run my hand up behind the front wing drip panel I can feel a hole, hidden from view and easily missed by MOT testers and the like.
I'm 'assuming' this is the entry point but I wont know til I've found a way of fixing it without cutting a wing off! (possibly reach from the inside behind the speaker pod?).
I had a mk3 that rotted in the same place (behind drip panels) and had no battery tray or fusebox tray to speak of. Good old Ford and their built-in water traps.

lol I'll never forget, was out once in probably one of the heaviest downpours I've seen, and it started whilst I was out driving. I was in my RS turbo and the damn thing was more like a swimming pool by the end of the journey lol. It was mainly coming in the sunroof, there was tonnes of it. My mate rammed his jacket up inside the sunroof cover to try and soak it up lol. Rs turbos..... Not made for heavy rain!!

i remember once my mum sayin years and years ago it was on TOP GEAR as new that there is a place they all leak some went back to fords for recall, i gotta find it this year get my floor is rotten..........sorta dont wanna know whats under there

I have had water in the footwell, driving me nuts over last 2 months....problem?
The passenger window seal slightly tilted outwards by the wing mirror....water ran towards the wingmirror on the tilt into the door, dripped down inside the door card cleared the bottom door seal and saoked my car....
Fixed with a £13 window seal from FORD.

i have same problem when it heavily rains but its in the back footwells. so fukin annoying. havent got a clue where it could be cumin from?????????????????????

Common problem apparently with mk3/mk4 escorts like somebody has said already the silicone or original sealant around or under the f/box has perished.Ive sorted mine now with new sealant and all appears ok.But mine must have gone unnoticed cos i had to weld a small bit metal to cover hole.Atb Colin135.
