Just as a side note.... Could anyone tell me what I actually need to complete the install, as far as im aware, I need a modified quadrant, different clutch pedal and clutch pedal, is this correct ?

Could anyone give me a like to the ap site that contains the information on the quadrant / requirements etc...

Thanks!

I think you'll be ok with just the one pedal

im guessing you mean clutch cable Cable isn't necessary......there has been a lot of talk about the different lengths of clutch cables however, they vary from the non ABS to ABS models, but to be completely honest the cable shouldn't make any difference. There isn't really anything else you will need.

alex, if someone had been asking honest sensible questions then that would of been fine by me, i actually dont recommend buying something without asking questions unless you know the person very well.......but thats the whole point, i ( and others ) were only ever negative towards STATEMENTS which were potentionally harmful to the point of the thread, if they were actual QUESTIONS for example

" is this quadrant an exact copy of a modified mk 5/6 quadrant as the guide on the ap website states "

or

" is this a quadrant with the increased radius for use with ap clutches "

then i would of answered them truefully and with a smile on my face as i respect and expect those sorts of questions, this whole thread has gone tits up in my mind, just when id hoped it would get back to the important thing in hand, it goes straight back to bitching.

this will be the last im going to say on the matter as it has to stop somewhere otherwise it could go on and on if everyone keeps defending themselves which, personally, i could go on and on doing but im putting whats more important ahead of anything, which is the quadrant. to anyone who i may of pissed off, im sorry. just hope you understand why i may of got touchy by things that were said as i could potentionally see all my hard work go down the pan thats all.

oh and one last thing, i do hope you was joking about trying to kick my arse sonny , coz unless you take on anyone without seeing what youll be facing i think you may be biting off more than you could possibly chew pal.

end of discussion in my eyes, probably like others im bored by it all now to be perfectly honest.

all the best

dave.

if you follow the way AP describe no wonder it can fail, look at how weak it is

the alloy one sounds a very good idea but then ive never had a problem with my plastic one since it was fitted years ago
there is a slight mod to do to the clutch cable aswell but nobody seems to of mentioned this
it would be easy to make an alloy one tho and it would be a very long lasting item, fit and forget

dave
my mates machine is down at the moment but he will be willing to make some if there is about 10 people minimum,or i could look at making some at work

I'll take one!

Using AP Mk5 Mod at the moment pedal sits slighly higher than the brake.

I did use the standard MK4 quadrant for a few weeks but it got harder and harder to get into the gears and eventually destroyed the box only leaving me with 3rd and Neutral! Ooops! Should have followed AP's instructions when i fitted their clutch in the first place!

On the lookout for a new Gearbox if anyone has one?

ABOVE ALL theres no need to bring it down to this level, i haven't been sarcastic with you, i posted a response because im genuinely looking out for everyones best interests, if i am mistaken, as ive said i could well be, you could of just written that it would of been very easy.

Long time since I've been here, lot of misunderstanding and shite over here. (come on people we're all RS drivers, make "love" not "war")

But still no alloy quadrant on our cars..... Or am I missing another thread were they can be ordered?

What's the status guys, I want one......

Wheres my name gone off the original list?? Is everyone agreed now (months later) that it will be correct.

1) Who's making them?
2) How much?
3) How soon?

Simple answers...

Thanks

Ahhh, one of my favourite topic's ever posted in the RST Forum!!! I think the lad who was going to get these made got piss*d off with all the back-biting/disagreements. But I for one would still be interested in buying an alloy upgraded quad!! Regards,Micky

Altough my second plastic quadrant hasn't failed yet (knock on wood) I'm still interested as well!

But it's a bit of a shame that we can't manage to get it done.

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Today my second quadrant snapped leaving me with no clutch. Good thing I had a spare modified one in the glove compartment. So with 5 min. lying on the ground at the side of the road I could drive on and try and look like if nothing ever happened....

Does ruin a nice day driving in the good weather car though....

Is there any progress in this story ie. is there anyone in the process of making alloy quadrants or is this whole topic going nowhere?!?!?

If you read the this whole thread and do a search for other threads regarding the Mk 5 pedal and modified MK 4 quadrant you will notice 2 things...
1.The modified Mk 4 quadrant breaks,so if we get someone to make an alloy quadrant it should last forever.
2.Most people with the Mk 5 pedal and modified Mk 4 quadrant have a high pedal.

I use the Mk 5 pedal and a STANDARD Mk 4 quadrant and have a normal height pedal with a clutch that works correctly, but Im in the minority,as lots of people have told me this cant work!!!!I have the high torque AP clutch kit in my car. Oh and myself and about 8 others have talked/typed about this topic to death!!! Regards,Micky

we do all the machining ourselves so we dont rely on any one else apart from little things like bushes or bolts etc..
as well as the service history for my old fiesta i think i found 2 locking wheel nut keys,do you wanna ask your mate

hopefully with the design it should fix the high clutch pedal, but until we make one and fit it we wont know

update
few details and pics
CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminium

Rough prices at the moment are:-
The billet of aluminium and bush un-machined works out about £15

The finished quadrant will be in the region of £35-£40 as there is low overheads

hopefully with the design it should fix the high clutch pedal, but until we make one and fit it we wont know
hi nigel,

i know you do all the machining etc mate as you mentioned it when i saw you, as it was me that brought this thread to your attention coz i asked if you could possibly help by making them as i had already gone round getting quotes ol.

when i said i hope you have better luck i meant i hope after all your work in getting one made it doesnt all go to shit ie people not coming up with the money etc as youve for yourself some of the problems i had with people when i first got it all in place to make em for people on here. no doubt when theres one made and its proved to be a working item, genuine people will buy them.

to everyone else, there hasnt been a new list for ages with regards to this thread, the people who have added there names down lately have done it to a very old list, to help nigel ill start a new list off including the recent people who appear to be keen as he seems very close to getting this all sorted, please add your names down if you are definately interested......if after adding you decide for some reason you dont want one could you amend the list please, thanks everyone.

1.Mickey
2.Markxr
3.stevos
4.vroooom ptssssh
5.jonnyrsturbo

continue/amend from here !!!!.

dave.
