no, its a stand alone loom actually , some connection to the org loom. but you need some sensors though( speed sensor and fuel sensor) fitted on the gearbox and connected to the meter unit(fuel)

I was worrying that it had been pulled apart at some point.
Where did you get yours from?
I would like it for authenticity and make a change from the ususal boost gauge lol

The yellow plug on the loom is merely the power connection, theres a whole seperate loom to be fitted to run the fuel computer, aswell as needing a couple of sensors.
Do you know if the car has the sensors?
I have a complete fuel computer setup, you have PM

I have thought about this before... but how accurate are these (when working correctly) ?, I mean what sensors do they use to obtain the MPG etc.... ?
My car is currently averaging 33.4 MPG at the moment, but say for arguments sake I had a big upgrade (new head, turbo, injectors etc...) would it still calculate the MPG correctly (ie the amount of fuel going through the now bigger injectors) or would it knock it all out?

It compares the fuel flow rate to how fast the wheels are turning, so based on that it should be accurate.
The range feature however is particularly piss poor, mainly because of how the sender is mounted in the tank, drive down a hill and all of a sudden you have gained a LOT more miles before you run out of petrol according to the range
Drive up a hill and all of a sudden you've lost all your petrol and have 0 miles

Interesting.
The range seems ok on a flat, but as you say about the hills it goes a bit tits up then.
If I fill up, it will say on the range about 340 miles (I think) and I usually get about 320 miles to a tank, so quite close.

The range function compares how much fuel is in the tank to the MPG your doing.
If you drive the car eratically you will also find the range figure is wrong because it keeps a log of how the car has been driven over a period.
My mum had a Mk2 orion may years ago and it just got annoying when it used to beep telling you that you had 0 miles left when there was loads of fuel in there

I remeber a mate of mine had one in his orion it told him he could do another 100 miles with the fuel that was in his tank (bearing in mind he was on the red ) he got about 15-20 miles and run out of fuel

I run a modifed 1.6 cvh turbo in mine, which due to some engine work I am currently running in. At the weekend I calculated the fuel consumption I was getting using miles covered and amount of fuel required to fill the tank. I then compared this to the reading the fuel computer had which I had reset at the fill up prior to this and the mpg reading I had on the computer was 0.9 mpg out from the mpg the car was actually achieving. Which imo I didn't think was bad for 80's Ford engineering and to use as a rough guide. Also I tend to refuel the tank before it gets below 1/4 and this means the fuel range is normally above the 50 miles that it starts beeping from to remind you to refuel.

andyorion i dont rate those flow sensors, IMo they have a lot of room for being unaccurate due to the nature of what they are, but i agree for the age of the technology it cant be bad, its just a gadget at the end of the day though isnt it

Ah i understand. Your English is quite good compared to 50% of the English people that live here!
Your best bet really is Ebay, or trying the for sale threads on here. These Fuel computer parst are quite rare these days, expect to pay good money and someone willing to sell outside the UK. I will have a look around on Ebay for you.

Nowt pops up on ebay, but as i said they are quite rare. Am i correct this sensor fits onto the metering unit?
Anyway have you tried the XROC forum. They were fitted mainly to these models, more so on the cabriolets.
Heres a link about the fuel computer on XROC..... maybe your best bet. Sign up and ask them.

the fuel computer is on the panel (already bought on ebay) ai him I have to connect a wire to speed sensor, a positive in a key post, ground a float in the fuel tank and in such a flow meter fuel, what I need is this guy flowmeter fuel, the rest I already have everything up to the installation scheme that a person passed me daimuito helpful.

The speed sensor and the fuel tank sensor will be fine fitted but i cant see how the flow sensor would fit as that was fit to the fuel Injection metering unit, it should be a red nylon pipe coming of the upper bit of the fuel lines.
