10K+ Poster!!
Rivets hold them on and you get them from fords as they are plastic headed and colour coded.
Drill the rivets out to get the skirts off but as for damaging the paint your going to have to grind away the paint to be able to weld to the bare metal.

the side skirts are held on with screw's and not rivet's!. the wheel arch kit is riveted and screwed on!
if you cant undo the screws then you will have to drill the heads off and then renew the riv-nuts which are in the sill. there is also a rail that the skirt sits on which is riveted to the sill!
it will be hard to weld the sill without damaging the paint although the side skirt should hide it when replaced!

As above really, if poss undo (or drill out the screw heads) the 4/5 ?? screws at the bottom of the skirts, undo the bolts connecting the skirts to the F&R archs then the skirt has to be forced upward (give it a thump with your hand if its tight) as there is a plastic rail behind, which the skirt hangs on.
