Turbo options for Escort Cosworth
I have a 95 ECOS that just had the engine rebuilt. It has been upgraded with a T35 turbo and a Autronic SMC ECU. The only racing I do is small track and auto-cross (very tight and low speed - 75 mph max). I find the T35 too laggy for this althought the car is making 350 hp to the wheels at 19 psi of boost. With the small courses it's hard to keep it in boost. What other tubo options are there for my car. The car has the stock ECOS exhaust manifold and a mongoose exhaust. I'd really like to find a dual ball bearing turbo like the Garrett GT line of turbos. I'm looking to run 16-20 psi of boost and hopefully 300-350 hp.
Thanks
Thanks

Hello...
Sounds like you have a nice engine there
Try the GT-30 with the small trim, it`s a ballbaring turbo and spinns up like hell
Try also the 2wd manifold, it is a little bit better in the top end and mittel area

Thanks for the input! The GT3071R was one that I was seriously looking at. I decided to take it just a step lower and get the GT2871R. I spent about two days doing math and reading compressor maps to find the best solution for my needs. Since Autocross trakcs are fairly small and usually really tight corners I'm trying to get the best possible response out of the turbo and still be able to run 18 PSI without issue and see 380-400 hp.
I think the biggest issue will be modifying the Mongoose exhaust downpipe to fit the new turbo's exhaust housing. Fortunatly I think it will just entail welding a flange onto the downpipe - I hope!
Sounds like you got a pretty decent engine there too

The gt2871r is a realy cool turbo, tryed it on a few cars now, has an impresive pickup on boost and is actualy the best sub 400bhp turbo`s si have tryed...
The flange isne`t so hard to get, maybe ATB-turbo has one on stock?
Yes i`m just underway with a full re-map, are hoping for the best of it, should be over 600bhp this time but mine is build for drag so absolutly NO low torque

you cant go smaller then this for 350bhp....
a gt30 gives the same turbolag...
then go for ALS....
expensive but no lag...
