Default running pants

Can anyone come up with some ideas for my Large Turbo Escos.

replaced the headgasket, bolted it all up and started and idles fine. However, when the car is revved up, it misses and splutters whether its under load or just sat on the drive. won't go past 4k.

The engine is standard. Ive checked all the conections to the sensors and nothing seems obvious.

Was thinking i'd take it to ford for diagnostics. Will this give me an answer on which sensor has gone down?

take it to a reputable tuner for a diagnostic check. My local one charges around 50 quid an hour for it and know what theyre doin.

Ford will charge probably double that and wont have a clue

Has this happened just after you put the gasket on or was it like that before.

Did you disconect the wiring harness at the multiplugs????If so these are notorious for bad connections once disturbed. Most owners rid the plugs and direct solder each wire.

deffo sounds like a sensor unplugged!!!! not forgotten to plug the coolant temp sensor in??? back RHS of head by the dipstick??? Easy to forget cos ya cant see it!!! ACT sensor under plenum??

Prob not an actual sensor gone down as it all worked before!!! Double check them all mate as the 4k rev limit means it's on limp mode.

Why don't you run an autodiag of the ECU? If a sensor is unplugged you will know immediately.

Good advice from July1. Auto-diag before.

If no code founded with auto-diag, are you sure of your cameshaft timing.
It is easy to fit camshaft belt in wrong position, if it is not usual for you.
Check that.

Regards.

Sorted everyone. Thank for all your suggestions. Another Esc cos lives.

One of the pins in the multiplug by the coil had backed itself out of the connector by about 2mm. Not obvious at a first glance, but when checking all the connections in it it moved a little bit more and fell out. Now clipped back in and running sweet as a nut.

Cheers 3drbadboy for popping over yesterday to help set the boost up.

Damn yesterday was a good day See you sunday dunc.

If I was you I would get a good Auto-lecky to cut out the multi-plugs mate, they are notorious for causing problems... Alot of places do it as part of a STG III conversion!!
