T5 to Tremec feedback
Considering options to upgrade my T5, The Tremec T6060 (6 speed) is one option.
The gearbox would go into a 3dr.
What has to be done to fit this gearbox in terms of input shaft spline / length, tailshaft spline / length, mounts, gearstick location, clutch etc.
I heard that they are ok for handling hp but maybe slow shifting , any experience on that ?
Thanks for your feedback
Regards

The 6060 is a strong box but its ratios are not acceptable for a Cosworth.
6th is a stupid 0.5 even if you change the Diff ratio the spacing of the gears are wrong.
Below are the ratios of the latest version v a T5
2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT5002.66:1.82:1.30:1.00:0.77:0.50
Ford rs Cosworth 2.95: 1.94: 1.34: 1.00: 0.8
You simply cant use that 6th gear its like falling off a cliff. Get that right by changing the Diff & the other gears are too short.
The T56 was the previous 6 speed from Tremec I toyed with that but realised it was not suitable.

You can use a T6060, if you want to fit a Magnum gear set then you can pretty much choose your gear ratios but it very expensive, the T6060 is a much better box than the T56 far better and smoother gear changes.
But as Rod says the ratios are much better suited to a big torquey V8, for the money it would cost you to get it right a Tremec TKO600 would be a better bet, I believe that's what Rod has fitted to his Sapp.
Also would be worth speaking to Gav Diamond on here as he has also done the TKO600 conversion on his 3 Door.

Friend of mine has an elite sequential gearbox.
Totally transforms the car and makes it a lot faster on the road it's got about 550bhp and it's never off boost as there's no let off but they are expensive.

Thanks for the guidance guys, I did check out a hollinger they start at around 17K AUD and go up from there.
The discussion raises a question in my mind.
Is there a preferred set of ratios for 5sp and 6sp gearboxes for sierras with on road use and some track day use ?

Interesting about your wheels... I think maybe my car will be like yours when done.
My motor should be up to 500Hp, have 3.9 diff and 18" wheels. I guess the power curve and your road / track usage conditions comes into play here.
First question:
What are your motor and rear tyre specs ?,
I am concerned at how long the T5 will last hence this thread, budget overrun years ago...
Second question:
Did you upgrade the T5 gear set ?

Another question, how does your 3dr go in hillclimbs... are there cars that you would say are similar in capability, we would never see another 3dr on the track in Aus, there are older escorts with cossie motors NA, 300zx etc

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I have the Tremec TKO600 with center push hydraulic conversion. It works really well but even better with the shift finger modification and carbonfiber syncrorings. This totally transforms it from being ok to awesome. The parts for this mod are about £300-400.

Following the posts I checked out the Elite gearboxs, they are great, a lot of cash and I have to ship to Australia, but I want one of them cant convince the wife on it.
On the tremec how did you find the ratios, comments on here were that it was not suited to a 3 door... This looks like something that could fit my budget.. could you send me the details for the bits please. Assuming wife does not relent on elite
