Default Help with fuse box, BAB type....

guys and girls,

think my fuse box is on its last legs, heater blower and air con have stopped working.

I have checked my fuse box and the last three digits are BAB. I have had a look around but cannot find any... Was these superseeded by another type? It is a Small Turbo 1995 M plate Escort RS Cosworth with air con, head light washer jets, electric windows mirrors etc.

Anyone point me in the right direction... I need a working one to test to see if this is the problem, I will then get my old one fixed if it turns out to be dry solder joints..

Thanks in advance. Need this asap

thanks

Mark

You need to check the relay, fuses and control switch knob. Usually the first thing to inspect when the heater blower stops working is the fuses to see if any are blown. Examine them to determine if they need replacing.

Checked all fuses, fine, electrician has checked all the earths, fine.

Had a look around the fuse box and no damp but not removed to see for dried joints. Everything I have looked at points towards this. Someone offered to put another live cable into feed the heater fan but that is just cutting corners and I really dont want something else to go on the fuse box and cause me to be strandad somewhere or the fuel pump etc stops working

Have you open up the fusebox ? This is a normal failure from fusebox. I have solder up alot of them, on Cosworths and standar Escort`s. Have a look innside on the solder points

I have taken it down but not pulled it out, just bought a new one from fordpartsuk for it. will arrive Tuesday. Looked everywhere and couldnt find one, asked on all the forums for someone to repair the dry joints but no response so bit the bullet. At least I wont have anymore problems for a while with it and it would be good piece of mind for a new owner

A new one is the best, but if you can soldering, then it`s an easy fix

Yes , open the fuse box to inspect it .

You may be able to repair it and thus have a spare !
