Default Bleeding brakes help

Hi I'm lookin for some help to bleed the brakes on my escort. I have fitted all new pipes servo and abs block it will let me bleed the fronts but not the rear even if I try turning on the ignition. It seems as if the pump is not working but have tried 2 different ones to be sure it wasn't that?? I'm really stuck if anyone can help would be much appreciated!!

Would the servo still not work if the wheels are off the floor?

LOL I would guess a Cosworth given the threads location.

By you saying you can't hear the pump makes me think you have a electrical problem, power etc? (Assuming the second pump was known to be good)

The servo assistance is achived by means of an electronic pump which you should hear run when the ignition is in position one, they don't have a conventional servo!

It makes no difference whether the car is on the ground or not.

The pump is independant from the ECU, there is a pressure switch built into the system, this is what switches the pump on, (It's fitted to the Master cylinder) so it could be this, most problems are usually caused by a faulty relay, blown fuse etc.

checked and changed the fuses and relays might try changing the pressure switch again to be sure.

the abs loom is stand alone other than the wires going to the ignition and fuse box, it doesn't intergrate anywhere else into the loom
main problems are the power relays under the dash, there may be 2 or 3 of them, yellow and purple

start with those as the pump needs to buzz upon start up to give you the pressue required

Yes pressure as the name implies

You could always try bridgeing the wires as a test, there is a special Ford tool needed to remove it, although you may be able to improvise something.

I can't remember the figures off hand but the system works under very high pressure, hence the warning triangle on the Accumulator, so make sure you are comptent in what you are doing before dismantling the system!

LOL true, you can either PM "Jon@work" on here, or do a search on here as there are plenty of diagrams etc.
