i have a set of cdf racing drop links and i can not for the life of me get them to fit

I have already fucked one set of bushes trying to get them on and not far off doing the same again.

Has anyone actually fitted these with any success.

Phil above has now fitted them, you just need to make sure that all the surfaces are smooth and clean, it is also worth putting the polly bush's in boiling hot water to soften them up, and apply a liberal coat of copper grease when fitting.

The biggest issue we find, is that the original mounting pins are corroded to hell and actually bigger than they should be and courser too, so need a damn good cleaning to get them on!

I tried fitting mine yesterday all my rear beam and rear arb and minty clean and I still couldn't get them to go over even with loads of hot water and fairy liquid (other washing up liquids are available) and now the poly bushes are fucked!

This what happened to mine mate i got a set of new poly bushes from MSD.

The lugs that the drop links mount to on the arms and the ARB i grinded and filed the raised section off then drilled and tapped an M6 thread into the end of each lug. I then managed to press the drop links on and bolt a large stainless washer to the end of the lug to prevent the drop link from sliding off.

Eventually got mine on after alot of f**king about, used a set of mole grips in end.

Only problem is is that they are all marked off the molegrips and look a bit shit now..

if they are really tight, can you not just drill the bush slightly?

The ones ive fitted have been tight, but not to the point they wont fit, They do need to be a tight fit.

we keep the bushes here if you need some.

If there is a real problem here i will ask CDF to look into it as we were not involved in the design of these.

The main problem i had was that once there loads of lube on there the bushed pushed them selves out the drop link. used sockets, vice and moles grips etc but still no joy so decided to do what i explained above.

@James - Did think of drilling the bush but decided against it because i didn't want it to be loose and wanted them to be a tight fit like you said above. I think the issue is due to raised section of the mounting lug being to large for the bush to push over.

Yes i see what you mean, maybe doing what you did, and if needed even drilling and adding a washer and split pin to the ARB to prevent it comming off will work.

Yep exactly what happen to me, I tried using a socket and it just cut it's way into the bush

James how much is a set of bushes for the drop links?

we do the bushes separate. Ł19.99 for 4.

If your going to go to the extent of grinding, drilling and tapping you may as well fit rose jointed drop links as i have.. They are only Ł45 and a doddle to fit.

You also do 2 for Ł9.99 as I ordered them the otherday, the 2 bushes that go onto the arb I drilled out to 10mm from 8mm and left the ones that go onto the beam as is, it was still hard as fuck but finally got them on.

I think I know where the problem lies thou, the oem bushes are concave both sides so it slides in easier then as it goes through locks/holds tight on the otherside I don't think this would be a hard fix just a slight redesign of the bush to something like this;
I'm no Solid Works/CAD type designer so i quickly knocked this up on Paint but i think you'll get the idea:

I've also bought some these cdf drop links, even after heating them up and using fair liquid mine haven't got a hope in hell of going on, neither my beam or my arb are corroded!

I also bought an msd diff mount and both the bolts were too long and needed at least 1cm taking off!

I thought the idea of these was to buy and fit not buy,modify and then fit?!

flo flex are exactly the same as the cdf one's. flo flex made the bushes

so is it just that the holes in the bushes are simply too small to fit over the lugs then?

if so, how were they tested?

i think it's probably the original hole size spec'd for the standard drop link when made in poly simply won't flex as much to go over the top, whenever i fitted my standard drop links i always used a g-clamp to wind them back on again

My customer had the same problem with the diff mount and typically he was told his was a one off and they've fitted loads without a problem lol

They're made by compbrake so I suppose that's why lol!

The diff mount is the same as the pic in the comp catalogue. The drop links are made by cdf.
