There's a hole in my cossie.....
Hello Chaps
Whilst investigating the steering klonk and preparing for an MOT I noticed a hole in the cossie. When I bought it about 5 years ago I noticed that both front jack mounts were bent, cracked and damaged. Looks like someone has used a cheap Halfords jack to lift the motor. This has recently got worse and corroded and the LH side has now crumpled and pulled the floor from the sill.
I have already repainted the whole car and was planning to repair / repalce these parts but it is now more urgent as the MOT inspector will take a dim view of daylight through the floor!
Has anyone else got similar experience? Has anyone else replaced these components? Are these commercially available or have I got to get them made.
If you are still confused what part i'm referring to it is the box section inbetween the sill and the anti roll bar mounts.
Cheers in advance

Hello Chaps
Latest update from the body shop, all stripped out and damage has been looked at. Need a repair to both front jacking points - The box section not the sill.
I'll try and get some photos.
There are 2 thoughts, one to cut out and fabricate and 2 is 2 buy panels, apparently they have found a company that can supply these panels?
They are giving me an update on Friday so i'll let you know.
Cheers

Hello Chaps
Latest update - Just had a call from the bodyshop. The panel has now arrived. They are going to cut out the NS box section and replace and clean and tidy the OS. They will then plate both sections and then of course, paint, underseal etc. Quote was just over Ł500.
Quite pleased with the price, quite an involved job and not the easiest place to work on. I've known the chaps for a few years and so I know it will be a top notch repair.
They said they will have it done by the beginning of next week, we will then discuss a machine polish and a few bits that need painting - going to have the front bumper done for example.
When I go and see it next time I will try and get some pics.
Cheers

Hello Mate
The bodyshop sourced the panel and they are going to get the extra parts fabricated. I'll ask next time I go to see it where they sourced them from. I'll also try and get a few pics as well.
Yep, should be a proper job, i've known the bodyshop manager and sprayer for a few years now. they used to work at SC Gordons in Luton which was an authorised Bentley bodyshop. Unfortunately this closed down a few years ago so the guys went to the local Chevy / VX garage. I actually work for Chevy and used to work for VX and so know them well. Top bunch of chaps with an eye for detail.....Don't see many old Fords there though....
Regards
