acl bearings don't last long from experience on drag racing cosworths, ford originals are more good quality!!
I would say then that there is an oil pressure/supply/grade problem as the bearing itself should never actualy touch the crank, ive seen engines with over 100,000 miles and the bearings are still like new, maybe with only the slightest hint of where a stray piece of carbon has scored them.
GGR do the Vandervell mains and big ends std size for £60. or 0.25 for £75.
Always sware by these myself.
Theres always Mahle Motorsport shells, Matt Lewis does them.
Mahle IMO is the way to go, i have been advised by ford that they do not have lower main bearings in stock.
Have they still not got this sorted. I remember when i got all my stuff cosworth said they were trying to source a new supplier for the bearings but luckily ford had them in stock as i already had the upper half so i needed the lower
That was a couple years ago so im suprised they havent got this sorted
id like to know the difference in pinto and cosworth bearing, i ve always used pinto bearing s for my engine and so have my mates, never had a problem
pinto main bearings are fully grooved (360 degree), YB bearings use a plain bottom shell - the plain shell gives a higher load bearing capacity. A lot of pinto bearings are also a lower grade material.
Rod bearings are dimensionally the same, material specification differs.
Only bearings I have seen which have the plain shell are OE Ford or our own Motorsport range. Not sure about Cosworth, but if as is stated earlier they are now purchasing from ACL then they will also not be a plain bottom shell.
