Transfer box step down gears
#2
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
It`s easy, you don`t have to take the gearbox out of car either. Take of propshaft, and open the rear part of transfer box, then you will see ho it`s mounted

Have you got the shorter chain and smaller wheel then Dave?
when Steve Scott did mine on the first gearbox many years back, he had to grind down a small section inside the casing to enable it all to comfortably fit.
current box, being Barra - he just kept my 3.9 step off's and casing when assembling the new internals into the box.
dont forget, you need to change the rear diff at the same time or you will be driving the front to rear wheels at different ratio's.

Yes Kelv, Pete Doughty did the 3.9 conversion with new chain and smaller gear (its paul ripleys old box) i was thinking of going back to standard ratios when i put it in the car but now i've changed my mind and am going to source a 3.9 7" rear diff instead.
