Even when performed faultlessly there will be some damage to the center diff and the limited slip in the center diff. Do it enough times and you will need to send the limited slip to FF Developments.
And yes, you can see it being done by Group A's and WRC's in rally's. But they have a special clutch in the gearbox that disconnects the rear wheels from the drive train. Last edited by oldford; 04-09-2009 at 07:04 PM. |

They have what's called handbrake-release which is an hydraulic system connected to the transfert box directly to the handbrake.

On all 4x4 Cosworths the front & rear wheels are permanently connected so dropping the clutch just disconnects the engine from the transmission nothing else. Pulling the hand brake (depending how good the hand brake is) will just try to lock all 4 wheels through the transimission.

Puma Nutter!!!

why not just use proper car control by learning how wieght transfer effects your car as you lift off, turn in etc. You dont always NEED the handbrake to break away the rear end on a car.
Even on gay wheel drive (FWD ) cars you dont need the handbrake except for the tightest of turns and even then a single sharp tug of the handbrake and handbrake back off again should be all you need to swing the rear round. On my old fiesta and puma thats all i did, a single tap of the handbrake after sharp turn in and lift off and the back end swings right round on its own leaving both hands free to steer out of the turn as you feed in the power to the wheels.

Puma Nutter!!!
![]() |
I had it down to a tee in my last puma as being stripped out it was light at the back and i had perfected it so i would do a handbrake turn perfectly into the car park space i used on base
