Default Escort Cosworth Body and shell

Well I have finally managed to get some money together to get an Escort Cosworth.

I was wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers of what to look for on the escort bodyshell. I have got the mechanical side sorted as I am taking TreCOSS with me to view.

I know about around the Petrol filler Cap. But that is about it

Thanks

Looking at my shell (bare shell in the garage atm). The parts where its starting to rot are the sills, rear towing eye. Inner wing on the front n/s, battery tray. Thats all ive found so far but havent actually looked very hard.

Just done a bare shell respray and we found rust/corrosion on the rear tow eye, behind the fuel filler cap pipe, front seat mounts and the Fuel tank had rubbed underneath.

as said above check the usual places aswell like sills, wings edges, battery tray, sunroof, windscreen surround, doors etc

the thing with escort cozzies is its not always what you can see but what you can't, i would be looking for previous crash damage repaired incorrectly, also check the id carefully incase its been tampered with ie floorpan id removed.
i like to see nice panel gaps, and paint one shade if possible not sitting heavy covering bodyfiller, i saw one last year for 15 grand that was a rsoc members pride and joy and it was painted up and the front end was bent also had runs in the laquer
the ads don't tell you stuff like that
