Mainly the shell.................... Do these sell easily? Anyone broken an escort lately, what sort of sums did you end up with?

Thanks
Jason

Jase, you know my views mate as weve spoken of this several times now.

and in all honesty ive spent this past 6 days saying 'if anyone wants to give me 20k then they can have my car, every spare part ive got and every nut and bolt that exists in my garage for it'.

maybe its the time of year - or maybe alot of people really are starting to loose patience with these cars

I have to say, I'm getting fucked off with mine as well, and it seems you cannot just buy somthing and fit it, everything is a fuckabout, every little job brings about 5 more, and people promise the earth and deliver fuck all .... really does make you think is it all really worth it, especially when 80% of stuff you cannot get, even stupid bits like throttle body gaskets for a small turbo or side skirt clips, wankers on Ebay buying up all the old stock and sticking a 500% mark-up on it as it has "Cosworth " written on it ...

I have been seriously considering putting mine back to std and getting rid as well, just gets beyond a joke, even if you pay people the right cash you still don't get a result

Agree with what you guys are saying.

My car was not used in anger for 3 years (i still drove it occasionally), as i knew that certain jobs had to be done before i could really do what i wanted with the car, i toyed with selling the car, or attempting to sell the car, but everytime i get in it and drive it, it becomes so refreshing and the buzz i get is simply awesome.
The amount of people that say "wow nice car m8" or something simular made me feel really proud of what my ŁŁŁs created.

You also have to remember that these cars are now 15ish years old for some, and parts will be hard to find, but with some patience, focus and determination i think that most people will be able to come through at the other end.

Personally i would never use ebay to buy anything for my cossie, and would only go to tuners who you know you can rely on. In my case MADevelopments. But there are other very good tuners out there, can they not source these parts??

Just my view, hope you get what you need sorted.

It's not engine or running gear thats generally the problem, but all the little fiddly bits that you need to keep the car looking good, sourcing trim, clips/brackets etc is just a nightmare and stupidly expensive, I mean people are asking Ł55+ for side skirt clips etc, it's a piss take

I dont think selling your car will solve anything I mean the problem with the prices
are indeed insane sometimes ,but that happend to three doors 5 years ago i mean go try buying a front or rear bumper here in Holland , they ask an easy 300 - 400 quid at some breakers over here.
I mean ok you have to get creative at some point but i still got My 3 door and love it to death.
On the other hand if i look at myself i could sell al my RS Ford and then i have to buy me another Toy wich will have the same problems because it will be as exclusive or special so its an never ending story.

I can see why you's all get pissed off with them been of the road and in bits, spending a fortune on getting big bhp bits for them ect, Jase how far off are you now from finnishing it mate? i honestly love mine to bits so much and im so happy with it (at the min ha ha), but i use it all the time which i think makes a difference as i get my full enjoyment and my moneys worth out of the car. I must agree with the cost of parts for them being a proper piss take for the Escos's mind. Mark

Hey Kelv, you cant be serious mate , after all that effort and time you have put into the car,
Let alone the amount of money you have "invested" in it

Or was there something on your trip you fancy more??

Hey Dave.

i probably wont part with mine, i went thru this a while back and then went mad with the spending again.
i just get like this every time i come back from the ring - i see so many other cars that i want and think i could enjoy both as a toy and an everyday luxury car.

I know what your saying mate,

I just get worried that after spending small fortunes on mine, Im gonna end up feeling the same.

It seems to be the way things go, after seeing so many people on here break their cars.
Im wondering if its after the challenge of getting it to how you want it, you need a new project?? or just the amount of money these things consume?

How the hell can you class me as a bufty

Big whoop, you've managed to rebuild yours in 1-2 months, what do you want a medal? I'm not the one who's resealed the entire underside! Its people's comments like this which really piss me off, my life believe it or not does not revolve around escort cosworths, I have work/personal commitments, I also have a future wife to think about (say future as I'm getting married next year and that's costing more that my car will ever be worth!) so things have to be thought about seriously when you get dicked around.

The ONLY reason its not being sold off now is because for me to receive the full worth financially it would probably take a year with all the bitty parts IE my question about the shell. I love my escort dearly, its one of 2 cars I've only ever wanted, but I love a lot of other things more!

My problems have sweet fa to do with setting goals too high, I have already hinted as to why I'm sick of it all (people who I respect & trust know the reasons why and thankfully they actually agree with me!). How the hell car you say I'm a bufty when it looks like this:

My cars sitting like that because I get dicked around so much, not because I cant be arsed.

I couldn't give a shite what people think of me in all honesty Ade, especially on the web! I aint looking for sympathy, any hand outs of the like, I merely asked what the shell was worth, suddenly I'm a bufty!

Oh and trust me, the escort was used EVERY weekend come rain, snow(which was the bollocks I'd like to add!! ) and shine! And will be If I dont break.

My biggest battle is justifying its existence when its been sitting static for 5-6 Months through no fault of my own, You can't win a row when you know she's actually right!

jase, dont let it stress you mate.its no good.as you have said it is just a car.if you break it,it will be a shame but at the end of the day it is just a car and tania is more important.as is house buying etc.you can always come back a few years down the line if you fancy it.and in the mean time get a useable toy for less.evo etc are getting cheap now.

like i say it would be a great shame but needs must.

Seriously - what will it take to get it running again, a couple of solid days working on it with a few guys who have a reasonable idea of what goes where ?
Sounds like you've got no excuse NOT to be driving round silverstone for FF

Its a waiting game on 3 things Rich............. All of which are out of my control (1 is partly my fault and now Pauls is in the way! )

I'm not sure what I need TBH I think its all there bar new fuel lines, but as I need to fit the swirl pot etc to measure everything it cant be done until the engines back and the new fueling loom is made.

I think I have more reason than ANY of you for doing this, but after driving the car at the Ring over the weekend I suddenly realised how good it really was. Also, it doesn't matter WHAT car you have, if it is abused in this way, it CAN break - be it Evo, Scooby or BMW. I "think" I have now got mine totally reliable (you can't really count the crank issue IMO), so I would be REALLY pissed to see someone else enjoying the car and it would be a crime to break mine.

At the end of the day, you have to do what is right for you, but I know a few people will be looking back and thinking "what if" in a few years time, when they see how much fun Kelv and I are having - and that's just in bed together .
