Pioneer Avic Headunit In An Escos?? Fitting Problems
I'm thinking about buying a Pioneer DVD Headunit probably a AVIC X1R or BT MODEL can anybody who has one of these fitted tell me if the top of the screen catches on the plastic part of the dash that tapers out (Below the heater controls) ? The measurment from the bottom of the lower stereo port to the underside of the dash area is approx 6" so it looks like its going to be a very tight squeeze, the Pioneer screens are 6.5" wide but not quite square,if anybody has one fitted please could you please put some pics up? I've put a pic of the dash below so you can get an idea of what i mean, thanks for any help,

I have a kenwood monitor in mine and I have the same problem with the screen hitting the top part of console. I have resorted in putting mine in the lower hole.

I mounted my in dash tv no problem into the top hole in the dash.I mounted the cage halfway out and managed to make sure it was secure so it didnt move about and then trimmed a bit of black felt to go around the sides and top so it looked good and you didnt see the cage. And the screen could fold out at a good angle.

Hi Steve thanks a lot for the pics,i'm having it fitted over the weekend i was going to have it fitted to the bottom compartment,i didn't think about having it positioned as you have,it looks good, when you say 'black felt' do you mean the standard stero surround what attches to the cage or have you made something up to go around?

As the cage with the alpine was quite deep i mounted it about halfway out and twisted the 'lug bits' so it was secure at either side of the dash. And once the stereo was pushed into the cage i put the standard alpine trim surround bit over the face and onto the cage as normal and then trimmed a bit of black accoustic felt about 2" by about 12" and then folded the short 2" bit over so it chunky and then squeezed it along the top gap of the stereo and down the sides and then trimmed and excess hanging down the sides. It finished it off a treat and the flip out bit folded out and around at a good angle.
