Default seirra 4x4 rear diff

my diff has gone on my escort cosworth and ive got an old D reg seirra 4x4, are they the same diff?

different slip settings - but would phisically fit

Some are 7" some are 7 1/2" but can't remember which way round!!
But each can be fitted to each other reasy enough.

What about the ratios though, they are diddferent are they not????
What would this do???

i was going to say it would be ideal to check that the sierra diff isnt 3.9 instead of the escos 3.62.

Mark the input shaft, mark the output shafts. Turn the input 3.9 times, and the outputs shafts should only rotate once, should be able to see the differance between 3.6 turns of the input and 3.9. The messy way is to take the rear cover off and count the teeth on the crownwheel and count the teeth on the pinion, divide the crownwheel number by the pinion number and that should give you your ratio

Hi,
A friendly man at the local ford dealer let me use his microfiche machine and I've managed to get all the part numbers, FINIS numbers, exploded diagrams etc for Sierra, Granada and Scorpios. I'm putting together everything I've found at www.super7thheaven.co.uk

Sierra 4x4 and Escort have the same diff, whit the same ratio. Only 2wd have 7,5" and 3.64
3.9 is not oe in any Cosworth
