Just wanting to know whether it is possible to remove the old speakers and place new speakers in the same position so they look factory fit? And how do you do it, if it possible?

just have to be carefull about the depth of the speekers into the door they may make contact with the window mechanism, i changed mine not long ago and they went in OK just some standard wattage ones.

you can buy some bigger plastic surrounds to fit bigger speakers if you want aswell. any good stereo place can get these for you as they are the same for all mk5 escorts.

As Jase has said, pop the door cards off mate and you will see how easy it is to remove the speaker enclosures.

i have/had Focal Poly kevlar components within mine, all neat and tidy and you wouldnt even notice they were any different unless you peered closely thru the speaker grilles.

pop along to any decent car stereo shop and they will probably have something off the shelf that will fit directly into the standard speaker pods.

As mikedaf2 said, you can buy adapter plates for bigger front speakers, which fit in exactly how the old speakers come out, it will all be self explainatry when you perform the job. If you look on ebay or go into halfauds, its the same adapter plate for any mk5 Escort.

and for the rears, you can buy 5x7 that go straigh in under the shelf.
